Findings from a study of over 1400 teachers in India revealed that 67 percent of respondents would move abroad for better job opportunities, citing better work-life balance as one of the major reasons.
According to the survey conducted by Edarabia.com, most teachers in India would opt for a teaching opportunity abroad. Researchers surveyed 1402 respondents who listed Australia, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom as top three countries they would choose to seek employment, followed closely by United States and Canada.
More than half of the respondents (67 percent) said they would move abroad for a better job opportunity. College professors or university faculty were the largest group of respondents, comprising 62 percent of those seeking employment abroad; 52 percent were school teachers, 31 percent were early education professionals and the remaining were senior management at 18 percent.
Indian educators who completed post-graduate studies were more likely to seek foreign employment, as the study found 62 percent of all Master’s degree holders applying for jobs overseas.
