Risalla Education Consulting was created to address the challenges and demands the Arabic and Islamic Education departments have been facing during a time of increased globalization. At Risalla, we strive to improve and advance teaching methods and student learning experiences to bring Arabic and Islamic Education to the forefront of the educational systems in The Middle East.
Arabic is spoken by more than two-hundred sixty million people throughout the world and is the main language of most of the Middle East. Arabic also plays an important role in the Islamic faith, being the language of the Holy Quran. Despite being the mother-tongue and most essential language across countries in The Middle East, we are seeing a large gap for improvement in the Arabic and Islamic Education classrooms, compared to other subject areas.
Fostering the Arabic language in Arabic speaking students, and as a second language to non-native speakers is becoming increasingly important both regionally and globally. Cultural and religious understanding is now being embraced by governments and institutions across the region.
Language, according to John Stuart Mill is ‘the light of the mind.’ It is this light that shapes cultural identity, understanding and allows one to be truly multicultural. In an era of globalization and in the face of 21st century education, this has never been more important.
As 21st century education focuses on the four C’s; creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, educational advancements are rapidly evolving to incorporate modern day pedagogy, moving away from memorization towards a student-centered learning experience. There is no better time than now to work on advancing Arabic and Islamic Education teaching practices to be in-line with these developments.
As educators, teachers and policy makers, it is our role to foster a young generation that proudly holds cultural values, identity and religious understanding using up-to-date fun and challenging teaching practices. At Risalla, our vision is to work hand-in-hand with educators through a range of services, including trainings and workshops to help plant the seeds that will grow and shape tomorrow.
We are a Dubai-based training and education consultancy, exclusively dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of Arabic Islamic Education and Social Studies across the region. Our goal is to ultimately move away from traditional teacher-centered practices to creating a more learner-focused environment in the Arabic/Islamic classroom. By incorporating the most recent teaching methods and practices, our workshops focus on how to engage students in higher order thinking skills within these subject areas, while motivating them to achieve the standards set by the Ministry of Education.
Our cross-cultural domain expertise gives us unique insight and ability to cater to the challenges currently facing Arabic Islamic Education and Social, Studies departments in the GCC. We understand that teachers come from varying backgrounds in education, with different outlooks on teaching and learning. In order to unify and improve this framework, it is important to bridge the gaps between Western pedagogy and Arabic/Islamic culture by providing specialized training for those teachers.
Our team has developed a program geared toward the overall improvement of the quality of teaching and learning in Arabic and Islamic Education. Our techniques incorporate the most recent teaching methodologies and practices into those subject areas, encouraging students to engage in higher order thinking skills and ultimately motivating them to achieve the standards set by the Ministry of Education.
Our mission is to provide teachers of Arabic and Islamic Education with high-standard training that helps improve the effectiveness of their teaching and equips them with skills that are essential in education today. We work with teachers to create student-focused learning environments by designing quality lesson plans, powerful resources, and differentiated assessments, aimed at increasing the level of student engagement and enhancing the overall learning experience within both subject areas.
As Arabic and Islamic Education are the backbone of this society, we envision a future where these subject areas are at the pinnacle of every school community and inline with all other subject areas. We aim to take Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies to a new level by strengthening its core and creating leaders in modern pedagogy.
