Job Summary

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies invites applications for several faculty positions for teaching courses in the required Global Awareness sequence of two courses on the Abu Dhabi campus. You will demonstrate excellence in student-centered teaching; University College is committed to student success and seeks faculty who are committed to ensuring it.

We seek faculty who possess a strong commitment to teaching the University’s core curriculum, and are advocates of general education as understood in the US model of education. You will be familiar with a college-level survey and introductory social science/humanities curriculum; you will value teaching 100 and 200 level courses; you are committed to your discipline and contribute to its knowledge base via conference presentations and an increasingly strong record of publication.

You will be inclined to contribute to an ongoing process of curricular revision and be involved in the design and development of the set menu of courses. Teaching load at Zayed University is established at five courses per semester with a possibility of reallocated time for research pursuits with tangible deliverables. Required Skills

• A Master’s degree in Humanities or the Social Sciences from a recognized/accredited university.
• Evidence of commitment to excellence in classroom teaching.
• Evidence of student-centered approaches to skills development in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
• Ability to engage with the challenges and opportunities of teaching in an EFL environment; training in ESL or its equivalent would be an asset.
• The ability to integrate computer technology into the curriculum.
• A demonstrated interest in promoting the humanities and social sciences to non-majors.
• Experience of working with faculty teams on multi-section courses.
• Fluency in English is compulsory, and the ability to work among diverse cultures is essential.
