University of Calgary Qatar (UCQ)


The University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) is the first overseas branch campus of the University of Calgary. UCQ’s mandate is to deliver the same excellence in nursing education and research success as that of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary. Since 2007 UCQ has been a proud participant in the Qatar National Vision 2030 by educating the future nurse leaders to take their places at the forefront of Qatar’s world class health care system.

The education at UCQ is identical in both quality and standards to the nursing program in Calgary. Courses completed in Qatar are recognized by programs at the Calgary campus, and by other post-secondary institutions in the same manner as those offered on the main campus.

The constant emphasis on excellence in education, by both the University of Calgary in Qatar and the State of Qatar, ensures the degrees awarded through UCQ are equal to the highest standard of nursing degrees offered anywhere in the world.The programs we offer are:

The University of Calgary in Qatar offers a flexible, innovative, Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of a rewarding nursing career. Throughout the program, students are provided with a sound theoretical base and supervised clinical experience in a variety of nursing practice settings.

The impact of mental disorders on the health of Qatari citizens and residents is set to be the subject of a significant research study led by University of Calgary in Qatar researcher, assistant professor Dr. Vahe Kehyayan, PhD. A total of 150 nursing students earned their undergraduate or graduate nursing degrees at University of Calgary in Qatar’s (UCQ) 2017 Convocation ceremony at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) on Sunday, May 14th.

As part of their community clinical course work, three groups of UCQ students from the Bachelor of Nursing, Post-Diploma program partnered for the first time with Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to develop community health care promotions in three PHCC health care centers.

The University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ), Qatar’s only school of nursing, officially opened a new building at its Al Rayyan campus on Furousiya Road on Tuesday.

Scholars from Canada and Qatar recently came together at the University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) to share knowledge and investigate ways the two countries can work together to improve health care. The University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ), Qatar’s only university for nursing education, recently hosted its third Interprofessional education (IPE) event of the academic year.
