University of Economics and Management

University of Economics and Management offer university studies in the Bachelor (Bc), Master (Ing./MSc./MBA) and Ph.D. degree programmes or professional courses within the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). The content and form of tuition are suited to the needs of students and the demands of current or future employers.

• Possibility to study for free via online vocational courses (MOOC).

The admission proceedings are aimed at discovering applicant’s capabilities necessary for coping with challenging university studies as well as his/her motivation for studies, together with the applicant’s idea about further professional development.

The admission procedure is two-round, when the I. round is done by electronically (on-line) throuhg SIS VŠEM. Physical presence (of the applicant) is required at the II. round of AP, for verification of identity, attainment of educational, presentation of study programes and study at VSEM, realization oral interview.

1. Round by electronic form (questionnaire, personality test, learning styles test).
2. Round verification of educational attainment, presentation of study programes and study, oral interview.

Accreditation of programmes at the national level (Ministry of Education) and international organization (ACBSP). Cooperation with foreign institutions in the preparation and implementation of study programmes and research projects.

• Interactive tuitional and examination application (videolearning, on-line videoforum, e-learning for teaching and learning texts).
• Lecture series Guest VSEM for involvement of practitioners in tuition and practical applications.
• The foreign partner universities under the Erasmus program.

Striving for maximum applicability of theoretical knowledge in tuition through exercises, case studies and individual work, with an emphasis on developing students' skills and abilities in communication, presentation, argumentation, analysis, negotiation and teamwork.
We realize study programs in economic and social areas for nearly 2,500 students since 1996.

The calendar for each academic year is defined in the Rector's Directive, stipulating the start dates of trimesters, the University holiday schedule, and the end date of the academic year. The calendar also indicates the period, during which students can enrol for course units provided by University of Economics and Management.

The international cooperation belongs to key activities of the Univerzity of Economics and Management VŠEM. VŠEM cooperates with more than 40 European and non-European universities. Students have the opportunity to attend trimester, or all year at a partner university abroad.

Study abroad In the Europe are implemented within programme ERASMUS +, in other countries under programmes and joint cooperation agreements.Programme Erasmus + is part of the European Lifelong Learning Programme (Lifelong Learning Programme), focusing on cooperation between higher education institucion and cooperation between these institutions and companies.

Students and staff of VŠEM are attend an abroad exchange visits, conferences, seminars, within the development of international contacts. VŠEM also visits students, teachers and other staffs from the foreign partners universities.Except programme Erasmus +, there are other possibilities to study abroad, students must develop greater independence and activity.

University of Economics and Management offers to all students services of two libraries (VSEM Library, CERGE-EI Library). All students can also use computers and Internet connection in the computer room.The VSEM Library offers access to a wide range of resources to support teaching, learning and research at VSEM. Our stock consists of some books, periodicals, standards, theses and dissertations, and other materials. The main part of the collection is in Czech language. All VSEM students can get access to the CERGE-EI Library, the best economic library of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. The CERGE-EI Library offers approximately 45,000 volumes (monographs, journals, gray literature, reference works) arranged in open stocks and about 45,000 volumes in store rooms searchable through electronic catalogue. The main part of the collection is in English language.

The University offers computer rooms in the campus to students. For access to computer rooms it is necessary to use a student card. All students have free access to the Internet and electronic mail. Every student accepted to study at VSEM is provided with his own university e-mail address.

Exams are carried out within the relevant examination period VŠEM during the academic year (12 months), when the student has the possibility of individual exam schedule preparing (IES) on the basis of pre-scheduled exam dates listed in the IS VŠEM and student´s individual preferences. The actual examination period is set in time within the academic year and selected price level.

Repeating of the tuition of a course/module/year specifies the administration conditions for student’s possibility/obligation to repeat the study course, study module or the full year of the respective study program and study form (Study and Examination rules VŠEM). A student can or must under predefined conditions and within specified cases repeat the tuition of partial courses or the whole module.
