Financial Aid
Students with limited financial resources with an average of at least 70% and above on their secondary school can receive up to 50% discount on their tuition.
Continuing students with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 per semester, with at least 12 credits per semester, for two consecutive semesters can receive up to 50% discount on their tuition.
Conditions for eligibility are outlined as follows:
- Enrollment in, or admission to a Bachelor program at ADU;
- Demonstrable evidence of financial need as supported in application documents, submissions and upon further investigation;
- Evidence of a minimum grade of 70 percent on finishing examinations from secondary education for first year students,
- Only one member of the family may receive Sanabil during any given period.
In order to maintain the financial aid after the first year, students must:
- Obtain a passing grade (P) for English level courses;
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for two consecutive semesters;
- Hold a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester;
- Re-submit supporting documents by the first week of every academic year; and
- Dedicate 20 hours per semester, not including the summer term, towards some form of community service and charitable volunteer work off-campus.
- The awarding of Sanabil is dependent upon the availability of funds; therefore, due to limitations, it is possible that not all qualifying candidates will receive financial aid.
Selection is based upon the submission and review of the following supporting documents:
- Signed and completed Scholarship and Financial Aid application form;
- Copy of Secondary School Certificate / High School Diploma or Official Transcripts for grade 12;
- Copy of rental contract of accommodation;
- Copy of water and electricity bills of residence noted above for the last 3 months;
- Documents for loans and/or other special family commitments (E.g.: Bank Loan Statement);
- Passport copies of the applicant and his/her family members that are sponsored by him/her or his/her guardian(s)
- Official statement of tuition fees from the School / Institute / College University at which applicant's sibling(s) is (are) enrolled
- If Parent / Guardian is Employed:
- Employment contract stamped and sealed by applicant's and/or guardians' employer;
- Original Letter of Employment from applicant's and/or guardian's employer stating tenure and, current and active salary break-up, issued within 30 days of the date of application;
- Original Pay slips (can be considered) and/or bank statements;
- Bank statements of applicant's and/or guardian's salary account for a 12-month period attested by the bank to verify liquid assets;
- If Parent / Guardian is Self Employed:
- Copy of the Company's Municipality / ADCCI License and attested copy of the tenancy contract of the enterprise;
- Audited Profit and Loss Statement of the enterprise for the last three years;
- Others:
- Death Certificate of guardian (s), if applicable; and
- Divorce certificate; if marital status of applicant or applicants' guardian is indicated as divorced.
- Further supporting documentation may be requested at the discretion of CFAA.
- Only under special circumstances will a student be permitted to take a semester off without conceding his/her Sanabil support. Such circumstance will be reviewed on a case by case basis by CFAA.

- This scholarship is available to the top 10 secondary school graduates across the UAE. It is applicable for a maximum of 4 years per student, or upon graduation, whichever is sooner, and shall include the English requirement levels; it covers tuition and university fees.
- During congratulatory ceremonies the qualifying students will be given formal notice that they are eligible for receipt of this scholarship.
- Upon completion of the admissions package, the final list of qualifying candidates will be forwarded to the office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Receipt of the scholarship is contingent upon formal approval from the Office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In order to maintain the scholarship after the first year, students must:
- Prior to completing English language levels, maintain a minimum of a B grade in credit courses;
- Post completion of English language levels, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7, and
- Hold a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester.
President's Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students who can demonstrate outstanding academic records and excellent personal capabilities. It is for the duration of four years, or upon graduation, whichever is sooner, and is applicable post completion of the English Requirement, which must be completed within one year. It offers a 100 percent discount on tuition and university fees.
In order to apply, students must submit:
- Academic records demonstrating an average grade of 97 percent during the last three years (grades 10, 11,12) of secondary education;
- A personal statement outlining the applicant's outstanding academic and personal capabilities; and
- Documents justifying qualification and achievement (i.e. Letter of appreciation from the Secondary School Principal, letters and/or certificates from social clubs for outstanding performance).
Upon completion of the admissions package, the final list of qualifying candidates will be forwarded to the Office of the President. Receipt of the scholarship is contingent upon formal approval from the Office of the President.
Not all qualified applicants will receive the President's Scholarship.
In order to maintain the scholarship after the first year, students must:
- Prior to completing English language levels, maintain a minimum of a B grade in credit courses;
- Post completion of English language levels, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6,
- Hold a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester, and
- Dedicate 30 hours per semester, not including the summer term, towards some form of community service and charitable volunteer work, either on or off campus.
University Scholarship
This scholarship is available to first year students who graduate from secondary school with a high level of academic distinction. It is awarded automatically to all candidates who meet the specified criteria. The scholarship is not applicable to English requirements.
- Secondary school graduates with an average of 95% - 100% will receive up to 30% tuition scholarships.
- Secondary school graduates with an average of 90% - 94.99% will receive up to 20% tuition scholarships.
After the first year, students who maintain a distinguished level of academic standing may qualify automatically for the Academic Scholarship. In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must dedicate 30 hours per semester, not including the summer term, towards some form of community service and charitable volunteer work, either on or off campus.
Academic Scholarship (20 percent discount on tuition)
This scholarship is available to continuing students who maintain a high level of academic distinction. It is awarded automatically to all candidates who meet the specified criteria. This scholarship is not applicable to English requirements.
Eligible students must maintain, for two consecutive semesters, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 with at least 12 credits per semester.
In order to maintain the scholarship after the first year, students must:
- Prior to completing English language levels, maintain a minimum of a B grade in credit courses;
- Post completion of English language levels, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7,
- Hold a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester, and
- Dedicate 30 hours per semester, not including the summer term, towards some form of community service and charitable volunteer work, either on or off campus.
Athletic Scholarship
Applicants with outstanding athletic skills may receive up to 25% discount on their tuition fees under the following conditions:
- Academic records demonstrating a minimum grade of 75 % during the last year of secondary education, or a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 if applying from another postsecondary institution;
- Documents justifying qualification and achievement (i.e. Letter of appreciation from the Secondary School Principal, letters and/or certificates from secondary school coach and/or club coach).
- Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of CFAA.
In order to maintain the scholarship after the first year, students must:
- Prior to completing English language levels, maintain a minimum of a B grade in credit courses;
- Post completion of English language levels, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5;
- Hold a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester; and
- Demonstrate active participation on ADU sports teams (either as coach, captain or player).
Family Tuition Discount
This discount is applicable to students of the same family. This implies family members with direct relation such as siblings, husband and wife, father and son, and so on. Families with more than one student enrolled simultaneously at ADU will receive tuition discount for every additional member as follows:
- First student pays full tuition;
- Each of two students enrolled shall benefit from a 15 percent discount in tuition;
- Each of three students enrolled shall benefit from a 20 percent discount in tuition;
- Each of four or more students enrolled shall benefit from a 25 percent discount in tuition;
- Discounts will be applicable for a maximum of 4 years per student, or upon graduation, whichever is sooner.
- The discount will be applicable to English Language Levels;
- The general criteria for retaining Family Tuition Discount after one year are:
- Students must maintain the minimum satisfactory academic progress (cumulative GPA 2.5) for the department or college in which they are enrolled;
- The English requirement must be completed within one year; and;
- Students are not permitted to fail an English level more than once.
Rules & Regulations:
The following rules and regulations shall apply to discounts, scholarships and financial aid:
- Applications shall not be considered unless ALL supporting documentation is submitted.
- Any student caught submitting false documentation shall be dismissed.
- Application deadlines: Applications for the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President's, the Diversity, or the Athletic scholarship, must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of academic year. Applications for the Family Discount, the University and the Academic scholarships will be accepted throughout the year.
- A student may avail of only one discount, scholarship or financial aid benefit at any given time.
- Discounts, scholarships and/or financial aid cannot be shared and/or transferred among family members.
- In the case where a student qualifies for more than one discount, scholarship or financial aid benefit, the student shall avail of the benefit with the higher value.
- Members of CFAA reserve the right to request further supporting documents and/or contact individuals in order to proceed with investigations into the financial circumstances of any candidate as necessary.
- Benefits outlined herein shall be for a maximum of four years upon completion of English language levels.
- Students availing of any benefit outlined herein shall not be permitted to fail an English language level more than once.
- In the case where minimum required cumulative GPAs are not met and the student risks losing financial benefits, the student shall be entitled to a one-semester probationary period.
In the case where multiple family members qualify for the Family Discount AND the first enrolled member of the family is receiving full scholarship, then the second enrollment shall stand as the first.
