Doha, Qatar: The new building of the Al Noor Institute for the Visually Impaired will be officially launched at the opening of the next academic year, Dr Saif Al Hajri, General Supervisor of Al Noor Institute revealed recently.
Dr Al Hajri said the building, which is located near the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs, is equipped with latest facilities and was built based on standards to suit the needs of the visually impaired. Shaped like an eye, the new building contains rooms for early intervention programmes, nurseries for the blind and primary school. In addition there are also swimming pools for different ages.
With the capacity of 400 students, the two-storey building has rooms allocated for studying and treatment on the ground floor and administrative offices on the first floor.
Along with the opening of the new Al Noor premises next academic year is the introduction of new programmes such as using music as treatment and equipping students with necessary qualifications to join the labour market.
