Indian School Muscat, since its inception has grown steadily with a purpose. From humble beginnings in the year 1975 with 135 children the school today is the largest co-educational institution in the Gulf with over 9200 students.
Indian School Muscat expresses a deep sense of gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the benevolent ruler of the Sultanate of Oman. It was His Majesty's magnanimous grant of land in Darsait that enabled the school to be established.
The school imparts academic education in Science, Commerce and Humanities. Life education is emphasized through Sports, Scouts and Guides, Excursions, Adventure Camps, International Award Scheme, International Student Exchange Programmes, Stage Craft, Debates, Quizzes and such disciplines that develop an individual into a complete human being.
Enlightenment through interaction with eminent personalities is a regular educative experience for students. Enrichment is extensive and the students derive immense inspiration from Statesmen and prominent dignitaries.
As the flagship school, ISM continues to extend academic and administrative support to the other allied Indian Schools in Oman. ISM, has indeed played a pivotal role in the formation of the other Indian Schools in the Capital.
'Be a globally acclaimed premier school empowering young minds with holistic excellence'. 'To promote integrated development in children by enriching them with core values and brilliance in curricular and extra-curricular activities to flourish universally'
In the centre of the shield of Indian School Muscat emblem is an open book symbolising knowledge with a burning lamp, the flame of which radiates light, indicating dissemination of knowledge. The motto,'KINDLED TO ENLIGHTEN' dispels the darkness of ignorance. The flame of knowledge also spreads humane qualities of tolerance and honesty.

A school in which a lot of modern and scientific methods of teaching is repeatedly announced during parent orientation programs. They however forget to train their teachers to stick to the required teaching methods. Most of the teachers do not even know how to handle active kids. They silence the kids by shouting and terrorising them. The school management is quite approachable and supporting, however they fail to guide and stop their staff from being unprofessional and insensitive.
