Electricity. Antibiotics. Mobile phones. Clean water. Plastic. Cars. These are just a microcosm of things that have changed our lives for the better things we wouldn't have without science. The future is filled with innovations we can't even begin to imagine innovations that will be brought to life by curious and pioneering minds. This course is for those excited by discovery.

Those who question the norm. Those who not only ask why but also seek the answers. Because science is broad, you'll have the opportunity to major in one, or even two, areas that particularly interest you. You'll also be able to study non-science units that feed your curiosity.

Key Features

  • This course has a strong focus on practical work in the field and in our labs to enhance your skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • It allows you to combine the study of science with arts, commerce, education, law and many other disciplines.
  • You'll use modern labs offering exposure to the latest instrumentation and tools.
  • You'll be taught by internationally recognised researchers with up-to-date scientific knowledge.

Suitable for

Want a flexible science degree that will allow you to study a wide range of science and even non-science subjects? The Bachelor of Science offers an interdisciplinary approach to make sure you receive the skills, knowledge and experience you're seeking.

What You'll Study

Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.

Units

Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.

Entry Requirements

For students from overseas, Macquarie uses an international selection rank to determine the minimum eligibility requirement for each undergraduate course. This rank has been converted into equivalent scores for various recognised international high school qualifications and university entrance examinations, including global qualifications like the International Baccalaureate (IB) and GCE A-Levels.

English Language Requirements

All applicants for undergraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.

You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed:

  • Senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC
  • One year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification

Alternative entry

At Macquarie, we are all about success. With our International Academic Entry Program, we recognise your individual strengths, interests, and personal circumstances. If you have not achieved the overall score required for your program, but demonstrate particular strength in relevant subjects, we may consider you for alternative entry.
