Graduate Diploma of Policy and Applied Social Research
This program of study develops your skills in applied social research and the analysis of policy in social context. The core units, provided through the Department of Sociology, focus on designing and conducting applied research, on the evaluation process, and on understanding and analysing policy in the fields of social policy, environmental policy and human services.
The program is intended for those who are employed or who seek employment in community-based and non-government service organisations (NGOs), policy agencies in government, local government, trade unions, marketing and social research; and private consultancy. It is also suitable for anyone wanting to study social research at an advanced (or postgraduate) level.
Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.
Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.
Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.
