Travel and tourism is the world’s fastest growing industry, set to double by the year 2020, and estimated to be worth US$ 10.8 trillion. In the UAE, projects in the tourism sector are planned to make Dubai the World Tourism Capital with US$40 billion being invested. The UN’s World Tourism Organisation estimates that by 2020, the number of travelling tourists will approach 1.6 billion and the worldwide employment in this sector will rise to 296 million.
The programme includes core courses of sectoral/functional areas, Non-Teaching Credit Courses (NTCC) of sectoral/functional areas, university core courses and university elective courses arranged semester-wise. The importance of each course is defined in terms of credits attached to it. The credit module attached to each course has been further subdivided in terms of contact hours i.e., Lecture hours (L), Tutorial hours (T) and Practical hours (P).
The Bachelor of Arts (Tourism Administration) course at Amity University blends both theoretical knowledge and practical experiences with industry interfaces including guest lectures, workshops, and international trips. Students of BA (Tourism Administration) will be learn to demonstrate systematic knowledge and an understanding of tourism and travel concepts.
