TOEFL ITP (Institutional TOEFL)

In collaboration with ETS/AMIDEAST, UMS, Centre for Language Arts administers TOEFL ITP* placement examinations as a mandatory University Entry requirement. Dates and times for these exams are announced each semester as they are operated on an as-needed basis (please refer the calendar for test dates).

The TOEFL® ITP is a standardized English proficiency paper-based test that uses 100 percent academic content to evaluate the English-language ability of non-native English speakers. All questions are multiple choice and the tests evaluate skills in three areas:

• Listening Comprehension measures the ability to understand spoken English as it is used in colleges and universities.
• Structure and Written Expression measures recognition of selected structural and grammatical points in standard written English.
• Reading Comprehension measures the ability to read and understand academic reading material.
