The Diploma in Intensive French is a one or two-year programme, which provides non-French-speaking students with intensive French language studies to obtain a University Diploma (DU), which is required for enrolment on any undergraduate programme.

The Diploma in Intensive French improves a student’s studies and career prospects by learning a language acclaimed for its cross-cultural influences and presence in today’s globalised world.

Throughout the one or two-year programmes, students are divided into groups depending on their language ability, which allows for improved teaching and learning. Students are introduced to information and communication technology (ICT) during the study programme to supplement their learning. During the second semester of their first year, students are given the opportunity to attend bachelor courses to become acquainted with academic methodology.

Daytime students receive approximately 23 hours of teaching per week, combining general French with the development of specific skills such as speaking, writing and listening. The academic year covers two semesters from September to January and from February to June. Students are required to pass various tests during their studies including a mid-term exam in January and the final university diploma (DU) exam at the end of June.

For students who would like to prepare for the DU examination over two-years, a one-month study course in France at a language school can be arranged where students can practice the French language and undertake the DELF B2 examinations.

This diploma provides graduates with several options to pursue further academic studies at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi or Sorbonne University. Furthermore, being proficient in French is beneficial for students to have a range of rewarding careers in private institutions, consultancies, government, diplomatic institutions, education and tourism around the world.
