The decision stated the equivalency of the degree granted by the faculty to the one granted by the Islamic and Arabic Studies Faculty degree from Al Azhar University. The College of Islamic and Arabic Studies was established in Dubai in 1986 through the public sponsorship of the Government of Dubai by a decision from the Board of Trustees. The academic study at the faculty officially started in the academic year ( 1986/1987) as the decision number (95) for the year 1991 was issued on 9/7/1991 by the President of Al Azhar University. In 1993, a decision was issued by His Highness Sheik Nuhayyan Bin Mubarak Al Nuhayyan- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates which led to the equivalency of the degree granted by the college to a bachelor degree in Islamic studies. The College was officially recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as it was considered the first private College accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in the UAE.

Objectives of the B.A. program

  • To graduate students in Arabic and Islamic Studies so as to maintain the heritage of the nation and to work on its development and growth to link the present with its past.
  • To create a new generation of learners who can support the comprehensive development in the society.
  • To graduate qualified students who can master the grammatical rules of Arabic and the art of academic educational writing.
  • To graduate female students who deeply understand their religion and can participate brothers in maintaining Islam and in building a sound family and society.
  • To ensure free university education.

Requirements for the B.A. Program

  • UAE citizens who hold a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Science, Literary or Religious or an equivalent, are eligible for admission if their certificate has been obtained within the last three years and according to the grade recognized by the board of trustees at the beginning of each year.
  • GCC citizens who hold a Secondary School Certificate (SSC), or an equivalent, are eligible for admission provided that their certificate has been obtained within the last two years and according to the grade recognized by the Board of Trustees at the beginning of each year.
