Exploration Data Contouring, Mapping and Interpretation
This course, designed for explorationists, will assist participants in developing map data contouring skills required to produce reliable and high quality maps in support of exploration and production activities in the petroleum industry. The sessions will emphasize the explorationist's role as a searcher for deeply hidden hydrocarbons, the necessary positive approach to the interpretation and mapping of subsurface geological features, and the importance of constructing maps that effectively demonstrate and accurately illustrate exploration possibilities and drilling opportunities. Reliable methods for detecting, developing and displaying the not-yet-apparent subsurface features in areas where only fragmental well and seismic control is available are discussed and illustrated with case history examples. The sessions include a review of computer-generated maps and their application.
