Ovidio Music Institute

The Ovidio Music Institute was founded 25 years ago and is one of the first specialised music school in Dubai. As part of the pioneering vision of Music Director Ovidio de Ferrari, the Ovidio Music Institute was designed to offer a fresh approach to musical instruction, which was uniquely suited to the young and dynamic community of Dubai.

The Institute accommodates all levels of ability and admits students from as young as two to the more mature adults and offers programs for the beginner as well as the aspiring professional musician. Our programs offer one-of-a-kind learning experiences including one-to-one lessons for the guitar both accoustic and electric, bass, harmonica, piano, keyboard, flute and recorder, which can be held at the Institute (located near the Trade Centre roundabout) or, depending on the needs and preferences of the students, in the comfort of your own home.

We also run Music Appreciation classes for curious adult learners along with performance recitals and innovative classes for early childhood learning. The Ovidio Music Institute offers an unparalleled learning experience using an innovative method called ‘The Ovidio Music System’. The method is divided into five sections:

• Teach your fingers: this involves the acquisition of the basic techniques required to play the instruments

• Teach your eyes: A good musician should be able to sight-read music

• Teach your mind: The ability to see the ‘big picture’ so as to be able to sight-play which combines two unique skill sets: music reading and music making.

• Teach your heart: A good musician can play without the sheet music so that they have the freedom to express themselves when they perform, whether it’s the baroque music of Bach or Justin Bieber’s pop music!

• Teach your ear: The ability to play a piece of music which one has only ever heard.

Students at OMI have the opportunity to learn from talented, professional musicians who hold degrees in music and/or education. Our teachers come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and experiences providing a wealth of talent from which our students can learn.
