In the turmoil of the last days of the Edo period, there was a young man who was deeply concerned that Japan had no future unless it embraced various ideas and ways of thinking from Europe and America. Passionately driven by a desire to learn, a curiosity about the wider world and a longing for freedom, he left Japan for the US by himself, breaking the seclusion policy that prohibited citizens from traveling overseas. On the US-bound ship, the man was given the name ‘Joe’. Eventually he went on to become the first Japanese person to graduate from a US university. The man was Joseph Hardy Neesima and it was Neesima who later founded Doshisha University.

In practicing human education, Doshisha University puts emphasis on the linkage between education and research and on fostering creativity in individual students. At its basis is our founding spirit, “education of conscience,” and adherence to our three educational philosophies. “Liberalism” is to value individuality, “Christian principles” are to respect and love others, and “Internationalism” is to see and understand the world with a broad perspective. Based on these philosophies, we conduct education and research in a liberal environment that respects individuality, producing graduates who play an active role in various fields of society. This is Doshisha University’s identity that has been maintained throughout its history.

Doshisha University is developing innovative curriculum and educational programs rich in both quality and diversity. The university has also been engaged in research activities of an international standard, assuming a leading role in a wide range of academic disciplines. We are committed to creating new ‘intellect’ and making extensive contributions to society through a synergetic effect combining a solid educational foundation based on conscience with cutting-edge research initiatives.

Doshisha University provides various educational opportunities and support services to help students expand their possibilities and achieve their full potential. Strong motivation and curiosity are the driving forces that push students to attain the highest levels of achievement. What they gain through their autonomous activity at Doshisha University will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives. We hope that all students will use their time at Doshisha to explore new interests and try new experiences, and in the process discover something they can put their heart into and use in a future career.

Doshisha University has not only fostered my child's academic growth but has also surrounded them with an incredibly supportive staff dedicated to student success.

The University of East Judging, which feels Western. It was quite fun to go in and out. I saw quite a lot of thoughts on the national flag and the national flag imprinted in Yoon Dong-ju's fertilization. It was a lot going on in Arama. However, if education is removed, I would like to be a little lack of sightseeing place. Inside the university, the cathedral is also located near Sibi.

Alma mater. The closeness from the station is world class. It is not easy to be able to live a university life surrounded by important cultural properties as much.

Kansai's most challenging private university. Next to there is Sokokuji, there is Kyoto Imperial Palace across the street. It is really a location that is like Kyoto! There are historical buildings on the campus designated as important cultural properties, brick buildings have a very nice atmosphere!

alma mater. However, it came to be young and stopped on the way. Doshisha 's school building was impressive with red bricks and it was quite fashionable because there were buildings named the building somehow managed somehow. In front of Kyoto Imperial Palace, Doshisha Women 's University next to Doshisha Women' s University, and Sokokuji on the other side, the Imperial Palace was hopping around with a feeling almost like Doshisha 's garden.

My alma mater. It is the best place to enjoy life, a place that has the potential for nothing more. As the teachings of Shinkinjima Yoshi are made up of the spirit of independent independence, there is nothing to be said from the school side. It is a place like paradise for those who can strive to open up their own lives, looking at their own future, refining themselves under their own responsibility and flying up. Youth will not come back. Students, have fun!

Overall support for the students is neglected. In particular correspondence of Academic Affairs Division is very bad. It comes to how to contact, such as look down on students. Otherwise, the school also clean the location is good, I think that's a good school cage is excellent people professor.

The building is very westernized, beautiful, even though it is very quiet in the urban areas, people can aspire to this school!

I am very sorry this university has been under attack by the activist mommy and her thug followers, I actually read a post of them bragging about leaving these comments here and bringing down the rating ... I hope you're able to report her page and or get her and her followers banned from your site!
