Prof May El Barachi is a distinguished professor, academic leader, and the Head of the School of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. She is known for her transformative leadership, having launched pioneering programs such as the region’s first Master of Digital Transformation and significantly expanded student enrollment. With a strong track record in industry collaboration and over AED 5 million in research funding, she combines strategic vision with hands-on execution to drive innovation and excellence in education.
Associate Professor
Dr Tchantchane is an Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai and teaches Mathematics, Computer Science and Quantitative related subjects.
Dr Tchantchane's lessons are multidisciplinary oriented and has been involved in teaching both bachelor and master programs in the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering and Quantitative Research Methods.
He received his State Doctorate in Nuclear Physics, with the highest honours, from Ferhat-Abbas University, Algeria. He was a Mathematics Instructor at Arizona State University and during the period 1984-1997, Dr Tchantchane worked extensively toward the development of a number of nuclear analysis techniques applied to environmental studies and quality of life.
Dr Tchantchane has consecutively won two teaching excellence awards from the University of Wollongong in Dubai in 2010 and 2011 and has supervised a number of master thesis and doctorate students.

Prior to joining UOWD, Prof Oroumchian worked as a project manager and consultant for many years in the United States and Iran. His previous posts include Chair of the Department of Software Engineering at the University of Tehran, Manager of IT Services in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tehran, Senior Research Engineer at TextWise LLC in Syracuse, New York, and Database/Computer Consultant for DefelskoInc, Ogdensburg, New York.
He has developed an intelligent search engine which uses human-like reasoning to find relevant documents. He is a member of several Centres of Excellence and Research groups and is a prominent researcher on Persian text processing and retrieval as well as multilingual search engines.
