About IELTS

IELTS is a highly regarded international test of English language proficiency. It is owned in partnership with IDP IELTS Australia, the British Council and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

IELTS is recognised by professional bodies, academic institutions, immigration authorities and government agencies alike as a dependable and practical test of English. It is primarily used by people seeking an international education, professional development, or by those seeking to satisfy migration requirements and is accepted by thousands of organisations in over 135 countries.

UOWD is an official International Test Centre for IELTS in the UAE and works in collaboration with IDP Australia. UOWD has been administering tests since 2000. Computer-delivered tests are conducted three times a day six days a week Paper-based test is conducted weekly. Test staff and examiners are IELTS trained, bringing many years of professional experience in administering the test and examining candidates. UOWD also administers IELTS testing in Ras Al Khaimah.

Academic or General Training?

IELTS has two formats – Academic and General Training. You will need to know which format of the test to take when you complete the IELTS Application Form. If you plan to study in higher education or seek professional registration, you can take an IELTS Academic test. Or if you want to study in secondary education, work or migrate to an English-speaking country, IELTS General Training might be right for you. If you are in doubt, contact the organisation or institution to which you are applying to find out what it requires.

Test Format

IELTS has four modules – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done in one sitting. The Speaking test may be on the same day or up to seven days before or after the other tests. You will be advised of the time for your speaking interview when you apply.

There are two types of IELTS Test formats IELTS on Computer and Paper-based.

IELTS on Computer: In this format, the IELTS test is taken on a computer, and the Reading, Writing, and Listening sections are done on-screen, while the Speaking test is conducted face-to-face with an examiner or through Video Call Speaking test.
Paper-based: In this format, the IELTS test taker uses pen and paper for all sections, including Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, with the Speaking test conducted face-to-face with an examiner.

About IELTS on Computer test

The IELTS on Computer (Computer-delivered IELTS) test offers a modern and convenient way to assess English language proficiency for individuals seeking academic or professional opportunities. This format of the IELTS allows test-takers to complete the Reading, Writing, and Listening sections on a computer, providing a user-friendly and interactive experience. With the Speaking test conducted face-to-face with an examiner or through Video Call Speaking test.

UOWD offers Computer-delivered IELTS tests in two convenient locations – one at UOWD campus, providing daily tests and faster results, and another at the Experts Training Centre in Deira.

IELTS on Computer Test fee: AED 1260 (VAT Inclusive)

PLEASE NOTE that you are about to register for a Standard IELTS exam. For IELTS UKVI registration, click on the following link. If you register for a standard IELTS instead of the UKVI IELTS test, you must email [email protected] about the error 72 hours prior to the date of the test. The test centre will provide guidelines for processing a refund of the test fee. Please note that an administration processing fee of 25% of the test fee will be deducted. If you do not inform the test centre 72 hours prior to the date of the test, you will not be eligible to a refund.

About Paper-based IELTS test

The paper-based IELTS test is traditional format of IELTS which allows test-takers to complete all sections – Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking – using pencil and paper. With the Speaking test conducted on the same day, face-to-face or video call speaking with an examiner, the paper-based IELTS test offers a reliable and comprehensive evaluation of language skills, making it an excellent choice for individuals.
