Chartered by the Government of Punjab, Beaconhouse National University (BNU) is the first Liberal Arts University of Pakistan offering undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields of Liberal Arts including Visual Arts and Design, Architecture, Business Studies, Psychology, Economics, Journalism and Media Studies, Theatre, Film and Television, Education, and Computer and Information Technology.

BNU is a non-profit, apolitical, non-sectarian, equal-opportunity institution offering degree programs in modern disciplines, many of which are not offered anywhere else in Pakistan.

The Beaconhouse National University Foundation [BNUF] established the non-profit Beaconhouse National University (BNU) which opened its doors to 100 students in September 2003. Being Pakistan’s first true liberal arts university, BNU’s objective is to provide and integrate the highest quality of liberal and professional education; delivered by nurturing a stimulating intellectual community whose foundation was built upon interactive dialogue and inquiry among faculty and students.

The Institute of Psychology (then called Department of Psychology) was established in 2004 to provide opportunities in the private sector for higher studies in Psychology. The Institute offers a broad range of programs in Psychology.

The School of Education was initially set up to provide training to senior teachers to become mangers of the Beaconhouse Schools. However, it expanded to offer University level M.A. and M.Phil level courses in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Education and Educational Leadership and Management (ELM), and Linguistics. SE also offers diploma and certificates.
