Liceo de Cagayan University, as a close family corporation, is headed by a president who is appointed by a board of directors. It has a flat and lean administrative structure, making governance and management responsive, effective, and action-oriented.
The University has stood the test of time through a strong, dynamic, and competent leadership at the helm. Upholding the philanthropic vision to serve the educational need of the common man, Atty. Rodolfo N. Pelaez and his wife Elsa P. Pelaez, founded this post-liberation institution in 1955. Succeeding Atty. Rodolfo N. Pelaez, who served as Director of Liceo de Cagayan, Dr. Jose Ma. R. Golez was installed as the first University President in 1997, with a five-year term of office. In 2002, Dr. Rafaelita P. Pelaez, was installed as the second University President and continued to pursue tirelessly the ideals and aspirations of the University’s reason for being. After five years, Dr. Mariano M. Lerin, CPA, was installed in 2007 as the third University president. He is the concurrent University President as of this writing.

As an alumni 2017 of Registered Pharmacist of this university, I am also a babies(3rd batch) of their college of Medicine(2023), I would like to thank this University. I observed the fast changes through 2013 until now. It focuses more on the students and very competitive especially on medical allied fields.

This school teaches the best in the Medical areas. But they also teaches amazing in the Engineering field specially in Electronics Engineering, last August 2013 the ECE Team bags 2nd place in the Interscholastic Quiz Bowl for the whole Northern Mindanao and perform very well during the Summit NM. The Civil Engineering Team also bags awards in the Bridge Building Contest in Regional and National levels. :)

One of the best schools in Cagayan de Oro. But I don't like the smokers at the side of the main library and at the river side. I like the internet library because it's free and unlimited (first come first served basis). That's my favorite place in school, you can always do research there.

Liceo de Cagayan University is simple a school that has it all. Saying thank you or even rendering services to express how much I value this institution is not enough to show how grateful am I to be part of her constituents. My eight years stay in the University is a roller-coaster rider which molded me to be who am I now. My first few years stay in Liceo U brought me closer to my dreams and the time that I stepped in my college years, the institution didn't only took me closer to my dreams but with the help of the people working to make the University a well-known and progressive institution, I'm able to get my dreams more than what I expected and aimed for. I become a better student (academic scholar), leader (public servant) and national athlete (chess player). I owe a lot to Liceo de Cagayan University. Undeniably, if you just heartily welcome the institution in your life, you'll experience TOTAL HUMAN FORMATION. ADEANTE LICEO! :)

while Liceo is improving and striving, it remains to be second after (by a long shot) the established and reputable Xavier U in all aspects- Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Teacher Education, Law, Graduate Studies and Research. I guess it all starts with the admission of students. XU only admits students who passed the admission exam and some courses even demand a high percentile on those exam to be admitted. XU’s performance on the board and bar exams is up on par with the national standards, while Liceo performs, well, always below the national passing. XU’s course offerings are recognized by CHED to be Center of Excellence and Center for Development in various fields.
