Thank you for your interest in The Cornwall College Group. As the first choice Further Education College for more than 35,000 students last year, our award winning students achieve excellent results from entry through degree to master’s level. We are the no 1 provider of apprenticeships in the South West and one of the largest providers of degrees locally.
We offer you the opportunity to develop your USP (universal, specialist and personal skills), so that you leave us equipped to develop in the career of your choice or through further study. Whatever your ambition, we are here to help you achieve your best. Many of our students achieve exceptional results; this makes our creative and expert staff incredibly proud and contributes directly to support economic growth locally and nationally.
We receive many external awards, but we are most proud of the recognition from our students who tell us they feel respected and safe here, that the teaching is good, and they would recommend the College to a friend.
Students learn in one of our centres, each of which is a discrete community of students and staff focused on courses and qualifications within a particular specialism, these together form our College Group – diverse and exciting. We work with literally thousands of employers to ensure our courses are at industry standard and to provide you with a clear line of sight to work.
Whether you are taking an academic or vocational route to your further study, I am confident that we will have a course that meets your needs. I hope very much that you will choose to join us and become part of our successful, vibrant College community.
The purpose of the Scheme is to ensure that information is readily available to the general public. Specific requests from the public for any information held by the College can also be made. Individuals have the right to ask if the information exists and to receive it, subject to exemptions which are legitimately applicable such as information covering personal data, security or commercial sensitivity.
We recognise that valuing and embracing diversity is key to providing high quality teaching and learning.
The college takes pride in servicing the local communities of Cornwall and is fully committed to promoting equality of opportunity, access, dignity and fairness, both in the services it provides and in its range of progressive employment practices.
We have an extensive support system for our learners, provided by our Student Services team who are based across our seven main campuses. For more details, please see our Supporting Your Learning section.
The College aims to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and foster good relations between all learners, staff and the wider communities it serves.
Values are represent an affirmation of behaviours that we believe in and which should help guide us in all our dealings. Underpinning these values is a recognition that our stakeholders are a diverse group with diverse needs. Also fundamental is our commitment to promote positive outcomes for our stakeholders, removing barriers that could impede this. The Act provides protection against discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the grounds of age.
With effect from 1st October 2011, the College will no longer be able to enforce a retirement age. If you have any queries regarding retirement you should contact Human Resources.
The Act provides protection against discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the grounds of gender reassignment. The definition of gender reassignment has been extended to cover people who have proposed, started or completed a process to change their sex but are not under medical supervision. (Equality Challenge Unit – Key Actions 2010). People considering or undertaking gender reassignment encounter considerable prejudice and can often be isolated within their community. A Further Education College can give opportunities to lessen this isolation as advice on hair and beauty is often a sought after service. All the members of our hair and beauty staff in Camborne, Saltash and St Austell have received specific training in providing equality of opportunity to people who have decided on or are considering gender reassignment. We will continue to build on this expertise to promote understanding and inclusion.
