Edge Hill University is based on an attractive, award-winning 160-acre campus in Lancashire, close to Liverpool and Manchester. The institution has been providing higher education since 1885, with a mission to create opportunity from knowledge. The institution’s significant success in achieving its mission is recognised by a range of awards and high rankings for teaching, student experience, accommodation and more. Edge Hill is ranked as Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the government’s evaluation of excellence in teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes. The University is also one of the select few to have held the coveted UK University of the Year title, awarded by Times Higher Education (2014/15).

Edge Hill is ranked as Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the government’s evaluation of excellence in teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes. Gold is the highest possible TEF rating, indicating that the institution is “of the highest quality found in the UK” and is “delivering consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students.”

Edge Hill is one of the select few universities to have held the coveted UK University of the Year title, awarded by Times Higher Education (2014/15). Recent successes include being ranked in the top 10 for teaching by the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, top in the North West for student experience (Times Higher Education 2017), and top in the UK for student accommodation in the 2017 WhatUni Awards.

Edge Hill is University of the Year for Student Retention by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018, who wrote that the institution is “firmly establishing itself among the top post-1992 universities.” In our peer group of the 60+ modern, diversified universities we are top in England in the WhatUni 2017 University of the Year rankings, as well as in the Courses and Lecturers and Facilities categories. Edge Hill also comes top in the UK for student support (WhatUni 2017) and social mobility (CentreForum, 2014).

Within the North West we are the safest campus (Complete University Guide 2016) and the highest-ranked institution for student satisfaction in a wide range of National Student Survey categories and subjects (NSS 2016).  Our strengths in employability are demonstrated by 95.5% of our full time first degree graduates finding work or further study within six months of graduating (HESA), and reinforced by awards including a top ten shortlisting in the National Graduate Recruitment Awards (TARGETjobs 2017).

Times Higher Awards have recognised our Excellence and Innovation in the Arts (Highly Commended, 2015) and research in sport and education, working in partnership with Everton in the Community the official charity of Everton Football Club (Outstanding Contribution to the Community, 2016). The University has been ranked Best University Workplace (Times Higher Education 2015), judged Best UK Employer (European Business Awards 2016) and Highly Commended for Workplace of the Year in Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2017.

When Edge Hill was awarded University of the Year title for 2014/15, Times Higher Education described it as “a great success story…an institution that improves and impresses year after year”. The award recognised its outstanding achievements in student satisfaction, staff engagement, graduate employment and innovation as well as its strengthening research profile, investment and growth. It also celebrated Edge Hill University’s distinct role in “transforming lives” – reflecting a distinctive philosophy of creating opportunity from excellence.

Not as good as it thinks and the careers advice is awful. Was unfriendly and poor facilities when I studied there. Poor quality accommodation in Ormskirk too

Very impressive campus. Professional delivery of presentations. Good hospitality. My son’s first choice. Very happy for him to continue his studies there.

I really enjoyed my time at Edge Hill. Very good Tutors who were well versed in their particular disciplines. First year was a pain re: parking but by the time I had finished my time there an enormous car park and further development / opportunities had been added. An excellent atmosphere including a great wildlife environment. My only criticism was that the library needs to be improved but I understand that is now finally in progress.

I was a part-time mature Masters student here until graduating recently and was impressed with the staff, facilities and friendly atmosphere provided by the university. The knowledge I gained during my course enabled me to side step into another industry and follow a more satisfying career path. The teaching was first class (award winning in fact), and the support provided during supervision of thesis research was excellent. I cannot recommend Edge Hill enough.

Attended the open day yesterday and was impressed from the moment we drove up to the car park. Staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother for them, with any questions answered throughout. The free refreshments were a lovely touch also and very much appreciated to keep us fueled up. It's certainly a lovely campus, with everything a student might need by the looks of it. If my daughter was to get an offer here, I would feel she was in very good hands.

Wonderful atmosphere. Everything you could need on site. Clean and clearly well maintained campus. Staff, students and student support are all welcoming positive and full of enthusiasm for uni life. Thank you to everyone for the help moving into the Chandlers Court Booth! Very kindly helping with bags etc. Love the student halls so much. Good luck to everyone this year :)

Edge Hill University is excellent. It has such a relaxing friendly atmosphere and full of friendly people, I spent three years at Edge Hill University. I have made long lasting friendships, that will never fade. Friendly staff and lectures that always are willing to go that extra mile to help you. If I could do it all over again I would. Simply fantastic
