London South Bank University (LSBU) is celebrating 125 years this year. Established as the Borough Polytechnic Institute in 1892, the original aim of LSBU was 'to promote the industrial skill, general knowledge, health and well-being of young men and women', which remains remarkably similar today. Our continuous focus on vocational education and professional opportunity allows us to produce graduates who can meet the challenges of today's workplace.

We constantly use our links with industry to build knowledge that ensures our course content, facilities and equipment recreated the demands of the 21st century workplace. By doing this we strongly support our claim of being a leading applied university. Browse or search our Case Study Finder for facility information. It's full of student experiences and detailed insights of what we offer. Plus, each entry in our Course Finder has facility information associated with each course.

If you would like to speak to us about hiring any of these facilities then find out more in our venue hire section. If you're looking to hire meeting and conference facilities in our Keyworth Centre contact our Senior Manager, Corporate and Recruitment Events by calling 020 7815 6706 or emailing [email protected].

We're always thinking of new ways to improve our campus facilities. In the past 10 years alone we've spent well over £60m in new buildings, location infrastructure, improved teaching facilities and enterprise initiatives. Read what's planned in our latest campus developments. LSBU's Corporate Strategy 2015-2020 sets out how the University will achieve its vision of becoming London's top modern university by 2020. The strategy builds on the University's strengths by focusing on our ability to enhance student success, deliver real world impact and provide genuine access to opportunity through academic activity and links to business and the professions.

London South Bank University (LSBU) considers financial sustainability, particularly in the current climate of uncertainty and change, as absolutely fundamental to delivering its mission of supporting students to achieve professional success. As well as the efficiency programme which has saved £6m, we have also developed plans to deliver a prudent sustainable annual operating surplus, which has enabled us to manage uncertainty as we invest for the future and continue to strengthen the quality of support given to students.

The University is constantly looking to develop and extend the benefits of its location and the features of its varied landscape. This leads us to create innovative new buildings, redevelop Grade II-listed properties and carry out a programme of changes and improvements that constantly further enhance our student offer. Read more about campus developments.

The University has a number of core policies relating to academic matters and a set of general policies that govern our approach to student affairs and life on campus (for both students and staff). Please take the time to familiarise yourself with these key resources – and use this section as a reference point to return to throughout your time at LSBU. These regulatory documents support and clarify the way in which we, the University, ensure that students are fairly treated – and cover the entire contractual student relationship from accepting an offer to study here, through assessments to your final award as a graduate.

The Academic Regulations of the University provide the means through which the standards of our academic awards, including research degrees, are assured. The Academic Quality and Enhancement Manual of London South Bank University (The University) sets out the academic provision of the University, including validation, examinations and student engagement. The University's Admissions and Enrolment Procedure details University admissions, complaints and appeals about admissions decisions, and University enrolment.

The Assessment and Examination Procedure covers: University assessment procedures, examinations procedures, examination boards, academic misconduct, certificates and transcripts. The University Fitness to Practise Procedure covers all students in the School of Health and Social Care who are undertaking a programme of study which involves patient or service user contact, and/or allows for registration to practice as a professional. The Fitness to Study Procedure is intended as a supportive procedure which can be used by staff when a student’s health, wellbeing and/or behaviour is having a detrimental impact on their ability to progress academically and function at university.

The University holds a Tier 4 sponsor licence which allows it to sponsor students under Tier 4 General of the points-based system. The University takes its licence very seriously and the regulations, policies and guidance listed here concern both applicants who require sponsorship under Tier 4 and current students who hold a Tier 4 visa. The University's Research Degrees Code of Practice covers: academic awards, the application process, registration period, research and professional development, supervision, progression, examination, PhD by published work, higher doctorates, appeals on examination result and graduation.

This Code of Practice applies to the following awards: Masters by Research (MA/MSc), MPhil, PhD, PhD by Published Work, Professional Doctorates, Higher Doctorates. The University's Student Appeals Procedure describes the processes for students to appeal against academic decisions of the University; in other words decisions relating to the administration of the marking process, progression and the awarding of qualifications.

LSBU is a great university for any student to achieve their dreams. Teachers are very supportive and most of the students are friendly too. In the first two weeks, I've joined the Archery Club and made friends in classes and at the student union center.

I have very bad experience first with one of lecturer who was very rude every time I need help from him then university itself played up by rejecting my student status letter and I lost so much money while cancel my booking ticket and could not able to visit my family. I am so annoyed from this university.
