Teesside University is founded on a rich heritage, which has influenced its development into the dynamic, energetic and innovative institution it is today. Discover more about our University and the communities we serve, plus information about our achievements, our latest news and a schedule of forthcoming events.

Teesside University has been awarded a silver rating in the government’s new Teaching Excellence Framework . The new ratings – gold, silver and bronze – form part of the government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) which is the responsibility of the Department for Education to give students information on teaching quality within universities. It reflects our strategic approach to teaching excellence, our commitment to our students and our emphasis on providing a high-quality learning and student experience. In addition to Teesside’s silver award, the local further education colleges that deliver Teesside University courses have received either silver or gold awards for their teaching of both full and part-time students

Teesside is one of only a few universities in the UK to have been awarded the nationally recognised Customer First accreditation for its services to business. This is the fourth time that Teesside has received the Customer First standard, which lasts for two years. Each time it is reaccredited, the University must demonstrate how it has continuously improved.

Teesside is one of only five UK universities to be accredited with Investors in People Gold status in recognition of the engagement of our staff in delivering the University’s vision, values and strategy, and our commitment to a culture of empowerment and professional development. The University first achieved Investors in People (IiP) recognition in 1999, gaining Bronze status in 2008 and Gold status first in 2011 and again in 2014.

Teesside University has achieved Gold status from EcoCampus – the leading environmental management system and award scheme for the higher and further education sectors. The EcoCampus gold award sits alongside the University’s Carbon Trust Standard, an award that is given to organisations who strive to measure, manage and reduce carbon emissions across their own operations.

Teesside 2020 sets out a new vision for the University that raises the aspiration and ambition of Teesside University to be an international university at the heart of the Tees Valley with a reputation for academic excellence. It will respond to the challenges and opportunities facing universities over the next five years and build Teesside’s brand and reputation both nationally and internationally.

Teesside will be a leading University with an international reputation for academic excellence that provides an outstanding student and learning experience underpinned by research, enterprise and the professions.  Teesside University generates and applies knowledge that contributes to the economic, social and cultural success of students, partners and the communities we serve. Through education enriched by research, innovation, and engagement with business and the professions, we transform lives and economies.

Our mission states our contribution to the economic, social and cultural success not only of our students, but of the communities we serve. Staff and students across our University community are actively engaged in enriching society and the economy through charitable giving, volunteering, enterprise, governance and mentoring – and through award-winning programmes of outreach activity and events.

Teesside University has been a beacon of knowledge; the dedicated staff empower students to reach new heights, and I’ve witnessed my child flourish academically and personally.

Badly taught course no help from tutors , no support lies over emails totally unprofessional and untrustworthy staff . Choose a better option. Weeks with no emails no help for people with health problems a very money obsessed university Terrible worst choice I ever made if I could give zero I would as the stress the university has caused has been horrendous

I studied BSc(Hons) Computer Science at TU. Tutors and staff are all very helpful. There is plenty of support if you need it. Its a career driven University which for me was ideal.

Teesside University ? I really enjoyed my journey as students in both undergraduate and postgraduate at Teesside and I recommend it for you, for people who looking for a great experience in both side the education and the social life's. Everything that you need as students is there amazing library, talented tutors and many more things that you dreaming to see.

I have found that Teesside University is terrible at supporting students and graduates. There was hardly any information or active about being a carer or disabled and there’s no societies or support for this. The careers advice is cliche, and there’s no support for finding summer placements, jobs fairs or LinkedIn. Or, if there is, there’s absolutely no posters about it. CV support and interview prep are not covered as part of your course. Teaching: I got 11h hours of contact time on average per week. No employer engagement or extra academic events or boards to attend. And the only facilities are library ones. Yes my course tutors were very good at what they did but for over £6,000, there needs to be more value for money.

Very bad experience on Teesside Clinical Psychology DClinPsy course. Incompetent, bullying staff that the university won’t keep in check. The Student Union knows of the problem but is powerless to do anything. Poor leadership from Tim Prescott who had to retire under a cloud because of it. They lost accreditation not long ago and are known in the psychology community for closing ranks and covering up mistakes they make and the students talk openly about how they can't speak out about what they really think. Toxic place, one to avoid.

Quality university. Gets better with the investment. 4 memorable years at this place and met amazing staff and students. Highly recommended.

Awful place. No feedback, they refuse to take constructive critique and "close ranks" . The computer system is so complicated it was just so hard to find out simple details like where the next lecture was...the lecturers had less subject knowledge than was to be expected and were teaching wrong material and picking students up for incorrect grammatical errors. When shown to someone from Cambridge they laughed and said well it is Teeside and gave me a look...!

They send you from A to B to C to etc to solve an issue that can be solved in 5 minutes. Student services staff are very unfriendly and nobody seems to care if a student has a serious issue to solve.
