Founded in 1971, MacEwan University provides student-focused instruction in a warm and supportive atmosphere. We focus on teaching, so our students can focus on learning. It’s been a cornerstone of who we are for more than 40 years. And we continue to build on that reputation. Offering more than 65 programs, the university provides a transformative education in a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Creativity thrives here through research and innovation that engages students, faculty and the community.

MacEwan University has an intentional focus on teaching and as a result has scored very well in the Globe and Mail's Canadian University Report. In the 2014 Report, our students gave us top marks – awarding us “A+” grades for our instructors' teaching style and our class sizes, along with “A” grades for the quality of our teaching and student-faculty interaction.

MacEwan University offers 8 four-year bachelor programs, 2 applied degrees, as well as 43 diploma and certificate programs. The university provides a transformative education in a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Creativity thrives here—through research and innovation that engages students, faculty and the community. We are focused on our students—providing them with choice and opportunities for success with a dynamic mix of undergraduate degrees, certificates, diplomas and degree-transfer programming.

People who teach. People who research. People who support. People who inspire. We hear time and time again that it’s our people who make us great. They create a sense of community, a feeling of belonging. It’s our students’ ability to not just talk to our faculty, but to get to know them. We invite you to do the same—get to know our people.

We have a lot to celebrate. With the relocation of our Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications to City Centre Campus, our university community has come together in downtown Edmonton. The university functions under the authority of the Postsecondary Learning Act and operates under a shared governance structure between the Board of Governors (Board) and the Academic Governance Council (AGC).

Although the Board has the ultimate authority, the Board and AGC share and balance power within the university. The Board has senior oversight of the institution and concerns itself with long-range planning and business affairs. Academic Governance Council is responsible for the academic affairs of the University. MacEwan University's leadership is responsible for inspiring students, staff and faculty while providing an innovative and exciting learning environment. The President works together with a group of senior leaders to ensure the University fulfills its mandate. The President, along with five vice-presidents, are responsible for managing the educational and business affairs with the best interests of the university in mind.

The supportive faculty and innovative curriculum here have truly empowered my daughter to reach new academic heights—she's blossomed in ways I never expected!

Previous reviewers have no idea what they're talking about. The Profs actually have real life experience, and degrees. Many of my business professors have worked in the real world for many years (banks, accountants, etc.) and give it to you straight with what's relevant. Profs actually know you by your name, and care if you do good or not. Wi-Fi could be better at times, and have a few more places to sit. Other than that, it's a great school and you'll be treated quite well.

The path to success doesn’t have to go through this university. My friend and his other 20 classmates completed their full degree in MacEwan in 2016 and NONE of them found a job in the field!!! Should university programs funding be tied to student success? Plus, some credits from MacEwan are not transferable to other Universities...

I took my Bachelor of Commerce degree at MacEwan and I couldn't have been happier doing so here, the campus is beautiful. The business program focuses on hands on learning with lots of group projects (love/hate relationship) that mimic real life workplace objectives, conflicts, etc. Most of the professors are great! If you find a couple that work for you, continue taking their classes.

Bad experience. Lost $75 by paying admisiion fee. They said they need a letter of eligibility from crna or " any provincial juristriction " but when i said i have one from ontrio they cannot accept and they dont refund my money

No one is communicating with each other. Got told one thing before I applied for my second undergrad degree now I'm being told something else and because of such I will not be admitted and have to take a high school course at 24 years of age. Complete BS if you ask me and a money grab. Waste of time with them.

Impressive campus and facility. Can’t say much about the university, academics or staff. But they have amazing architecture.

Hate this school. Money grabbing people since they got scammed. Would not recommend this school. Prices are jacked up and don't care about you. You're just a number to them. The first chance they get to screw you over they'll do it.

Very rude staff every time I deal with them; especially the older staff. And had an extremely bad experience with one of the teachers. Absolutely do not recommend this university to anyone. One word of advise: run and do not ever look back!

I really love being a student here. People are generally quite friendly and the staff I've encountered have all been really great (janitorial and food services namely). Thankfully I've only had two profs I wasn't a fan of, and the rest of mine have been really good. I like the clubs and the posters around the halls and the vibrancy of the school in general.
