Ryerson University’s history is rooted in innovative, career-driven education with the goal of addressing contemporary societal needs. Named after Ontario’s first Superintendent of Education and leading public school advocate, Egerton Ryerson, it began as a postsecondary institute designed to combine technical education with academic theory for the first time.
Welcome to Ryerson, where every year brings exciting progress. The reputation of the university continues to grow, built on the talent of its people, the ingenuity of its unique spaces, and the strength of its dreams.
In all academic disciplines, our undergraduate and graduate students are challenging the status quo with intellectual edge and creative vision, inspired by the Ryerson mission of making an impact on our economy, society and culture.
Ryerson is now identified as the leader in Canada for innovation and entrepreneurial education, and recognized among leaders in the world. Investing traditional programs and research with the perspective, pace and emerging technologies of the 21st century, our direction is focused and bold.
It takes courage to be a pioneer, and hard work to be a champion. You are part of a great university intent on advancing our city, nation and global community in a sit-up-and-take-notice kind of way.
Part of that is the extraordinary Student Learning Centre, opened last year as the new Ryerson gateway on Yonge Street, joining iconic developments like the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens and the Ryerson Image Centre, plus new projects taking our campus forward.
Ryerson University’s remarkable growth has been guided by our flexible, visionary Master Plan, established in 2008. The plan outlines a framework for undertaking the revitalization of our campus and acting as a catalyst for change and renewal within our unique downtown community.
The Master Plan Principles document is a gateway into the principles that continue to guide campus development today. It is designed to be an accessible and graphically updated tool to help the community understand our approach to city building and managing change. Even as downtown Toronto continues its unprecedented growth, the Master Plan Principles remain current and continue to guide Ryerson through its three main goals:

I studied film and photography at Ryerson over 30 years ago and psychology later. While it's a big institution and I sometimes felt insignificant when dealing with administration, I have met many great people, both professors and fellow students. Many of these people I remain friends with to this day. I'm taking a course on the Psychology of Personality in the spring as part of my commitment to lifelong learning and am looking forward to it. Great School!

A great University to invest your time and effort for promising future. Excellent professors and incredible staffs. An outstandingly vibrant campus-center of everything in Toronto. Easily accessible through public transport like subway, bus, taxi, street cars. Versatile food and restaurant tastes are all around the campus.

I am a graduate of Ryerson University. They have one of the best education format in Canada. Their location is one of the best as well. Very conducive to learning, interacting with peers, and building relationships. Highly recommended!

Ryerson is amazing. I'm a recent graduate and loved being a part of the community here. Other students are pretty welcoming and the staff/professors know their stuff. Teaching styles vary from textbook to more hands-on (though more hands-on), which was great as I learn by doing rather than reading. There's also tons of clubs and extracurriculars you can be a part of! I'd definitely recommend Ryerson to any student interested in their programs!

This is a great university to study and be who you want to be. There are lots of great restaurants and entertainment nearby. If you want to shop, the Eaton Centre is nearby in Dundas Square.

Great university with professional professors and staff. You have a good education here and the university are in the middle of downtown so you're close from shopping , subways and cafes.

Great school! I'm in my 3rd year now double majoring in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. I really like the environment that the university is situated in. In addition, the professors at Ryerson really do bring real life experiences from their field into the classroom setting.
Student group engagement is also very strong at Ryerson University. I've been part of numerous student clubs under the Ted Rogers School of Management and have had an opportunity to learn new skill sets. I've traveled in and out of Canada for conferences/competitions because of Ryerson University.

This rating is for the campus itself. The physical part and the social part that its design fosters. If you're visiting Toronto and find yourself near the Eaton Centre, walk one block over and explore this urban campus. You'll find Ryerson is unique integrated into the city's downtown. It includes pedestrian only streets, cafés serving fresh food grown on the university's roof, an artificial pond in the summer that gets Zamboni'd in the winter, some decent modern architecture that visitors are invited to explore, and occasional events such as farmer's markets. Most of the campus is open to the public.
