Erciyes University

Erciyes University was established under the name of Kayseri University in 1978. Gevher Nesibe School of Medicine, which was established as an affiliate of Hacettepe University, Ankara, in 1968 and Kayseri Faculty of Business Administration, founded in 1977, both constituted the core of Erciyes University.

Our university, which is one of the 10 research universities in Turkey, is among one of the higher education institutions constantly rising not only with educational and research opportunities but also with scientific studies.

Being the largest university in Anatolia except Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, Erciyes University completed its educational and research infrastructure many years ago.

As a matter of fact, scientific studies are performed in every field from vaccine development, drug researches, nanotechnology, stem cell, energy systems to agriculture in 39 research centers within our university.

Paying attention to historical and cultural studies in Kayseri, a Seljuk city, our university has been conducting activities worthy of the name of “Makarr-ı Ulema”.

Placing itself in a permanent scale in the first 10 and 5 according to the achievement ranking in Turkey, our university is among the first 500-1000 in international university rankings.

The target of our university is to enhance the success diagram further and to contribute to 2023, 2053 and 2071 targets with its knowledge and projects produced.

We should never forget that universities are not only educational institutions but also innovative centers of knowledge together with the cities they are situated and with the studies&researches towards the development and contribution of the region and country.

In consideration of these feelings, we will raise the bar of Erciyes University’s horizon and development. We will never make any concessions on research, knowledge production, innovation and improvement.

Erciyes University aims to be a research intensive university while maintaining its objective of being a good educational institution, to product information and technology, to use this information and technology for the benefit of the society, to be sensitive to the environment and basic values of the humanity and to be a pioneer in the fields of activities.

ERU has set itself the goal of educating self-reliant individuals who perform researches, improve in scientific fields, question and think globally. Considering the university’s endeavour and determination in developing, the university intends to access the worldwide standards in terms of education, research, innovation and culture. In this context, ERU's priority to educate and raise qualified students and researchers, increase national and international collaborations and enhance the impact of research outcomes and its international recognition.

Erciyes University offers degree programs to aproximately 51.000 students and employs nearly 2300 academic staff.

Graduate degree programs in Erciyes University became more recognizable especially after 1984. There are almost 6.000 master degree students in total and nearly 1.700 PhD students in total studying at graduate schools at the following graduate schools: Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History, Educational Sciences, Fine Arts, Gevher Nesibe Genome and Stem Cell, Health Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences.

ERU enables an integration in its vicinity by offering educational, research and health services. The construction of a considerable part of infrastructure and service buildings was ensured by the benefactors in the city, and after all furnishings and installations were completed, these buildings were donated to our university. Such an application has constituted a brand-new model for our country. The university has made progress in the direction of a center of excellence as a result of the developments in recent years. ERU, by reassuring and encouraging hope, has caused an image called “Our University” to appear in the society.
