Eckerd will change your life so you can change the world. We inspire and empower individuals to improve the world through mastery of self and a lifetime of learning. Our students are guided on a four-year journey of discovery, with small classes, professor-mentors and a commitment to community service.

We love our spectacular mile-long waterfront and white-sand beach on Florida’s Gulf Coast. But we are more than a pretty face. Eckerd is an innovative liberal arts and sciences community where students are well-taught and well-loved.We’re not for everyone but we might be just the place for you.

Our waterfront campus is offers swimming, boatingand sunbathing on our own white-sand beach– just steps away from your dorm room.Native plants and wildlife cover the campus, which wenurture with conservation efforts. Most of our faculty offices open directly outside or in common areas to encourage interaction with students. The bay and other natural areas are living laboratories for research —even for first-years.Study in a hammock or on a blanket on the beach or head to our modern library overlooking Fox Pond. Get a workout at the fitness center or at our outdoor pool.

You won’t find any ivory towers on our campus. Each day we aim to change the world around us, whether on campus or in our home city of St. Petersburg, a dynamic city of arts, culture and outdoor activities.
Our students and professors contribute thousands of hours each year to non-profit groups in St. Petersburg. For example, more than 60 non-profit groups in St. Petersburg benefit from our students’ work each year.

In our cafeterias, seasonal ingredients come fromlocal, owner-operated farms and ranches. Meat and dairy from animals raised with artificial hormones or routine antibiotics are avoided.

Eckerd College has been a transformative experience for my daughter; the outstanding faculty genuinely care about each student’s growth, fostering an environment where potential thrives.

I graduated from Eckerd College in 2007 with a BA in political science. I had such a wonderful experience at Eckerd. The political science, pre-law, and international relations faculty members are amazing (they know students by name and make a true effort to help students learn and grow). Even though I graduated from Eckerd three years ago, my professors still remember me, and are still willing to provide me with letters of recommendation. I enjoyed my experience at Eckerd and would definitely go back if I could

Personally, I have grown to love Eckerd College more and more each year and being that in freshman year I was very happy here, that is quite a task. The campus is beautiful, it is right near the beach, and it is very relaxed. There are a lot of hippies, it's very eco-friendly and mostly entirely liberal. Coming here from NYC its provided me with a lifestyle experience that makes me want to remain in Florida. I'd say the only drawback to Eckerd is security and the fact that there is really nothing that can be done about thefts from dorm rooms but in every other aspect it far exceeded my expectations and gave me the best college experience I could have hoped for!

Eckerd College is great, everyone is super friendly, and everyone kinda gets to know everyone. Teachers are cool and you can always find them. The weather is usually great, although it is 44 as I am writing this, it is usually in the 80s even in the winter. The campus is beautiful.

I would tell anyone seriously interested in Eckerd College that it is worth the financial commitment. I can personally say that my life has been changed because of the experience I had there. Eckerd opened my heart, my mind and my consciousness to the realities of the world, the understanding of myself and my place in the world. I transfered from a state university to Eckerd and I can personally attest that my learning took a different direction at Eckerd. Eckerd does not process cookie cutter students, but rather adults that are willing to work towards change, willing to think outside of the box and destined to lead rather than follow. I have made life long friends with both my peers and professors. I have traveled internationally with Eckerd and have met diverse people from all over the United States and the world. If you are looking for a school that you can slide by and not get involved than Eckerd may not be for you. To really experience and enjoy Eckerd you must be willing to consider new ideas and philosophies and must be open and motivated to learning and discovery. Eckerd really changes lives and you have a lot of fun along the way!

Eckerd was terrific. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. Great academics and beautiful campus in sunny Florida. I recommend that Eckerd go at the top of your list.
