Shorter University is a special place where we combine a love of learning with a love for Jesus Christ. We believe our students, faculty, and staff are special, and we welcome you to come see for yourself.

The Princeton Review rated Shorter as a “Best in the Southeast” University, and we have 50 majors in a wide variety of academic disciplines. Small classes provide for excellent student and faculty interaction. Our students are receiving a Christ centered education in business, education, psychology, Christian studies, fine arts, nursing, science, and a number of other areas. Shorter also enrolls students in our College of Adult and Professional Programs and through our online courses and degree programs. In addition, we want every Shorter student to grow spiritually through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our chapel services, student led devotions, mission trips, and service opportunities highlight this effort.

The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities conducts an affordability survey, and according to it, Shorter is one of the best educational values available. We continue to provide additional facilities and programs for our students.

Shorter is unique in its location. Rome is a wonderful small city, and the University enjoys its place as a vibrant campus. As a student, you can enjoy the tranquility of “the Hill,” but also be close to two other great large cities, Atlanta and Chattanooga.

Our athletic teams have achieved national recognition, and we strive to excel in each of our twenty-one sports. Ten national titles highlight the commitment of our coaches and student athletes. We are members of the Gulf South Conference, which we believe is the most challenging and rewarding conference in the country.

Founded in 1873, Shorter University is a Christ-centered, four-year liberal arts university committed to excellence in education. We strive to keep our tuition lower than most comparable universities.

The financial aid staff at Shorter is dedicated to making the financial aid process as straightforward as possible.
