According to the Association of American Colleges & Universities, “a truly liberal education is one that prepares us to live responsible, productive, and creative lives in a dramatically changing world. It is an education that fosters a well-grounded intellectual resilience, a disposition toward lifelong learning, and an acceptance of responsibility for the ethical consequences of our ideas and actions.” To achieve these broad objectives, Hilbert College believes that they cannot be taught in isolation but must be taught as an integral part of a cumulative, holistic curriculum that integrates into professional training the development of lifelong skills that transfer well to a wide variety of occupations.
As part of these general educational goals, the curriculum is designed to promote the following six objectives cumulatively over the student’s time at Hilbert. All courses will indicate which of the six objectives they are designed to strengthen. Certain required courses will attempt to reinforce all six objectives. Thus, the student will consciously monitor the development of these skills until, in the student’s senior year; the student will register for a capstone experience which will measure the student’s mastery of these six goals.
Newcomers to Hilbert inevitably ask where our name originates. It's a good place to start because the answer combines both our history and our philosophy.
The college is named after Mother Colette Hilbert, who, in 1897, established the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, which became the college's founding congregation. In 1957, the community founded a teacher training college for its members; in 1969, having broadened its curriculum to include degrees outside of teacher training and expanded its enrollment to include both men and women, the institution officially became known as Hilbert College.
In 1992, Hilbert began to offer four-year degrees for the first time; today, it offers 18 four-year degree programs, including one of only a few Computer Security and Information Assurance and Cybersecurity programs in the entire country and the first undergraduate Rehabilitation Services Program in Western New York. Hilbert added its first graduate programs in 2011 and adult and evening bachelor-level programs in 2012.

I am currently a Business Major, and I think that Hilbert College is great. It is located in a great spot, close to the city yet far enough away to have a country like setting. The atmosphere at Hilbert College is a place where anyone can feel at home. I made friends with people at Hilbert from the day I stepped foot on the campus, from the students to the professors. I would recommend visiting Hilbert, and seeing what it has to offer.

Hilbert College helped me to be able to develop lasting relationships with people. Also, it has helped me to understand that in order for the company or organization to succeed, that you have to work together. With being a small school, it allows students to receive the help that they may need and build relationships with professors and staff that is hard to find at a larger college. Great place to get your degree along with lasting friendships.
