but with an intimacy and a high degree of personal attention more closely associated with smaller private colleges.
Utica College educates students for rewarding careers, responsible citizenship, enlightened leadership, and fulfilling lives by integrating liberal and professional study, by creating a community of learners with diverse experiences and perspectives, by balancing a commitment to its local heritage with global outreach, by encouraging lifelong learning, and by promoting scholarship in the belief that the discovery and application of knowledge enrich teaching, learning, and society.
Utica College will be the nation's most innovative small university, inspiring students to create a future beyond their imagining.
Utica College combines many of the advantages of a large university - such as innovative programs, world-renowned faculty, advanced research facilities, and real-world learning opportunities - with the personal attention and close-knit culture of a small, private college. We offer a unique blend of liberal and professional studies that provides our students with the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to build successful lives and achieve their dreams.
Of course, the best way to experience Utica College is to pay us a visit. When you come to campus for an admissions event or arrange a private visit, you will discover an extraordinarily welcoming community of students, faculty, and staff; a campus that celebrates diversity in all of its forms; a place that feels like home from the moment you arrive. While our programs, facilities, and learning technologies are of exceptional quality, what truly sets UC apart is its people.
At Utica College, exploration and discovery happens in classrooms and high-tech labs, at national conferences and field experiences, in cyberspace, and out in the professional world. You work with some of the best minds in the hottest fields, with a comprehensive, personalized learning program that offers 16 of the top 22 most desired majors – 38 undergraduate majors in all.
We are committed to delivering the highest quality education at a cost every family can afford. That is one of Utica College’s founding principles, and we stand behind it with competitive tuition and living costs as well as generous scholarship aid, making UC one of the most affordable small private colleges in the northeast.
We are committed to making your experience at Utica College as financially accessible as possible. That is why in Fall of 2016 we ushered in a new era of college affordability by reducing undergraduate tuition and fees by 42%. Choosing a major means choosing a future—and forging a path to get there. Utica College’s selection of academic offerings is always evolving to reflect today’s marketplace, giving graduates the skills to succeed now and into the future.
When you become a part of this community, you open the door to a world of possibilities and new experiences, like taking part in our annual Holi Festival or “festival of colors”, a Hindu celebration brought to campus by members of Utica College’s Asian Student Union. Whether you’re starting a new tradition, organizing a club, listening to some first-rate performers, or running for student senate, there’s always a lot to do at Utica College.
The Division of Online and Extended Studies offers support services and student success initiatives for Utica College's suite of online and non-traditional programs. Our mission is to provide Utica College students, faculty, and staff with a broad range of online services, and help lead the way for future development in both the online and non-traditional learning space.
The Office of Learning Services provides advisement, advocacy, and academic support to students who identify themselves as having a disability and to students who are experiencing academic difficulties.
The Utica College Honors Program is a community of talented scholars fully integrated with the College's larger academic community.
The Honors Program fosters academic excellence by bringing together and supporting students committed to making the most of their studies. It emphasizes the interrelationship of knowledge and offers students the strongest possible education in the liberal arts in the belief that it will be the best foundation for any major and the best preparation for a successful future. It also provides students with opportunities for challenging and rewarding study and research under the close guidance of faculty tutors. Utica College's history reaches back to the 1930s when Syracuse University operated extension courses in the Utica, N.Y. area.
UC was established thanks to the efforts of business and community leaders in the Mohawk Valley who saw a need for such an institution. In 1946, Syracuse University launched Utica College. Originally, the school was located in a section of downtown Utica known as Oneida Square. In 1961, the school moved to its current site off of Burrstone Road.
Although the College became a financially and legally independent institution in 1995, UC announced its final transition to full independence in the fall of 2008. Since 1998, the College has offered graduate degree programs, including master's and doctorate options in a broad range of fields.

It is a small, tight knit community environment that offers a wide variety of clubs and orgs for students to join outside of class to meet more people. Pretty focused on healthcare, construction management, and criminal justice but offers many other programs outside of these.
