The Ohio State University at Newark provides access to the university by extending Ohio State courses, programs, research and service to many Ohio communities.
Faculty members at Ohio State Newark are involved in research and many work closely with students on their research projects. Twenty-three students participated in the 2017 Student Research Forum, submitting proposed and completed research as well as poster presentations. The forum aims to increase collaborative, student-faculty research endeavors at the Newark Campus, to encourage participation in honors research, and to further the goals of the OSU Denman Undergraduate Research Forum and the OSU Undergraduate Research Office at the Newark Campus.

Ohio State Newark offers general studies coursework applicable to all undergraduate degree programs at The Ohio State University. In addition, upper-division courses in several departments are offered. Entire degree programs may be completed at Ohio State Newark in the following areas: Early/Middle Childhood Education (B.S.Ed.), General Business (B.S.B.A.), English (B.A.), History (B.A.), Psychology (B.A. or B.S.), and Social Work (B.S.S.W.). A Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning and a Master of Social Work are also available.
By 1960, 46 scholarships worth $12,000 were awarded to students. In 1966, seven thousand Licking County residents pledged over $1 million toward the cost of land and construction of the first campus building. In 2010, local philanthropists J. Gilbert and Louella Reese challenged the community by matching all gifts up to $10 million; by the campaign’s conclusion in 2012, nearly $21 million had been raised for the Next Generation Challenge, which provides scholarships.
A true community effort, Ohio State Newark was founded in 1957. Community members gathered to paint, build and carry furniture into a remodeled barn, the campuses’ temporary first home. The first classes took place in the evenings at Newark High School with 80 students and eight faculty members Today, the campus features eleven buildings, including a recreation center and two residence halls.

The Office of Financial Aid at The Ohio State University at Newark is here to assist students and families through the financial aid process. In most cases, the student will be eligible for some type of federal financial aid regardless of income. Only admitted students are considered for federal, state and institutional financial aid including scholarships. Our staff looks forward to assisting you in financing your education.
Intellectual and personal development of high-ability undergraduate students both inside and outside the classroom. Along with admission to Honors classes and the opportunity to graduate with Honors distinction, Honors students receive priority scheduling, access to free printing in the Honors lounge, and invitations to special outings through the Laurel Collegiate Society, the social club for high-achieving students.
Academic experience is not limited to the classroom. Student research grants up to $1500 are available to full-time students and can be utilized for a variety of purposes. Recipients are encouraged to present their proposal or completed project at the Ohio State Newark Student Research Forum and at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum on the Columbus campus.
