Chartered in 1918, Seton Hill University is a leading Catholic coeducational liberal arts university founded by the Sisters of Charity and embracing students of all faiths. Located in southwestern Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands (yet only 35 miles from Pittsburgh), Seton Hill educates its more than 2000 students to “think and act critically, creatively and ethically as productive members of society committed to transforming the world.”

Seton Hill is accredited nationally by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Seton Hill is a Catholic university rooted in Judeo-Christian values. In the tradition of Elizabeth Ann Seton, we educate students to think and act critically, creatively, and ethically as productive members of society committed to transforming the world.

With a new academic year underway, all of us at Seton Hill are excited about what the future holds for this institution and our students.

We recently welcomed the largest freshman class in Seton Hill history to campus. About a quarter of the 430 members of the Class of 2021 came from outside Pennsylvania, and more than 40 percent are studying in the School of Natural and Health Sciences with Visual and Performing Arts and Business being other popular areas. In addition, we welcomed 57 transfer students, bringing the total of new students to campus to 487.

Seton Hill is a nationally-recognized liberal arts university, where you will receive a top education in your chosen field of study and graduate with a deeper understanding of the arts, sciences and humanities.

Seton Hill offers more than 80 undergraduate programs, 13 graduate programs, an Adult Degree Program and a wide variety of certificates and minors through five schools.

Our liberal arts foundation for your study in a specific discipline not only provides you with the flexibility necessary to succeed in your career (or careers) – it also prepares you for a future full of promise and a life filled with purpose.

At Seton Hill, you are eligible to study abroad starting in your first year. Or you can wait until later in your academic journey. Either way, we’ll help you create the study abroad experience that works best for you.

Seton Hill’s Study Abroad Office will help you find and plan the semester abroad experience of your dreams, or help you arrange international internships or teaching assistantships.

Since 1885, Seton Hill has been educating students to be “fit for the world in which you are destined to live.” The first step – the most important step – is finding the college or university that is the right fit for you. Whether you are fresh out of high school, a professional looking for a new career (or to enrich a current one), or a busy adult entering college for the first time, we have programs tailored to suit your needs.

Seton Hill is dedicated to successfully recruiting, retaining and graduating the students who will benefit most from our unique liberal arts based, career-focused education. This includes helping students and families pay for college. Our tuition is competitive. However, inflation has pushed the cost of higher education to the point where most students need financial aid in order to attend college.

Throughout its long history, the University, in conjunction with state and federal programs, has offered financial assistance to qualified students whose families cannot meet the full share of educational costs. The University has also offered merit and special interest scholarships to students who do not demonstrate need. Depending on circumstances, this assistance can range from a few hundred dollars per year upwards to a package covering tuition and residence fees in full.

If you are concerned about costs, apply for aid, regardless of your family's income. There is no magic income level above which students do not qualify for assistance. There are many factors aside from income that are used to determine aid eligibility; at Seton Hill each student and family situation is evaluated individually.

Seton Hill's tuition is competitive, and our financial aid packages make a Seton Hill education possible for most qualified students. Nearly 100% of our international students receive some type of financial aid from Seton Hill.

At Seton Hill students work hard, but they play hard, too. They try out for plays. They compete on sports teams (and in intramurals). They join clubs (we have more than 50 of them!). They go crazy at Griffins games. They take in campus dances, movies and concerts. They work out in the McKenna Center. They hang out in the Griffin’s Cove, MediaSphere Gaming Lab, residence halls and in downtown Greensburg. They hike, ski, kayak, camp or go white water rafting in the Laurel Highlands. They head into Pittsburgh (or Philadelphia or New York City – we have a train station next to campus) for fun. There are countless ways to get involved, meet others and form close, lasting friendships – all making possible a full, and fulfilling, college experience.
