Founded in 1845, the university has traditionally been known for producing excellent educators, nurses, business leaders, and missionaries. That has not changed, but today UMHB is also earning recognition for its talented science and music graduates, for top-notch graduate programs in counseling and physical therapy, and more.

Turning out for the CRU is one of the unifying traditions on campus, whether you’re a sports fan or not. It’s as much about UMHB spirit as anything else, and our teams bring us together over and over again.

We are so glad you are interested in learning more about this great university. Since 1845, our mission has been to provide the finest in Christian higher education. Our learning community is committed to helping students advance their knowledge and prepare for the challenges of a rapidly changing world. It is our hope that, when students graduate from UMHB, they leave not just with diplomas but also with a clear vision of how to live a successful life, no matter where their paths may lead from that point on.

It is our goal to offer learning experiences in an environment where we value personal attention to each student. We believe that the size of our campus, the quality of our faculty, and our commitment to Christian values and service combine to make an education at UMHB an extraordinary experience. We truly believe that, at UMHB, our students get an "education for life" and the "experience of a lifetime."

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor prepares students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society. Academic excellence, personal attention, broad-based scholarship and a commitment to a Baptist vision for education distinguish our Christ-centered learning community.

More than ever, being ready for life in the real world means learning how to think, not just what to think. It means experiencing that real world as you learn, not just sitting in a classroom wondering if what you're memorizing will ever matter. We want your education to matter, not just for a test next week, but for your life next year - and in 20 years.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor makes available a broad range of financial assistance to qualified students. Most financial aid is awarded in accordance with demonstrated need for assistance, as determined by use of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Certain University scholarships are awarded upon the basis of excellence in academics or proficiency in a particular field of study or activity.

All financial aid is granted for no more than a nine-month academic period. Financial aid is renewable each year, upon reapplication (completion of the FAFSA), if the student is in good academic standing. Possible changes in the amount of aid for each succeeding year may occur because of changes in funding levels and applicants' financial data.

Clinical counseling services are available only to currently enrolled UMHB students who find themselves in need of assistance with a wide variety of difficulties ranging from decision-making to personal awareness and understanding.

Counseling services are offered on a short-term basis by appointment only. When appropriate, referrals are made to mental health providers in the local area. Students can be assured they are receiving top-quality, professional counseling in a completely confidential setting.

We are here to help all UMHB students be successful. At the CAE, we have a variety of resources that we hope you will find helpful. The CAE offers free tutoring, academic counseling, peer coaching, and individualized success plans to help you be successful. Our desire is to support you as you pursue your academic goals at UMHB. The mission of the Center for Academic Excellence is to assist students with pursuing academic excellence in a Christ-centered learning community while valuing them as individuals.

Whether you're a first-time college student or you are joining the Cru from a different college or university, we want you to be successful at UMHB! These events are the front door to all things UMHB, so be sure to register and start your experience of a lifetime on the right note.

The CAE offers students a variety of advising resources. Student Success Specialists serve as freshmen advisors for students entering under the Opportunity Program. We also assist as phone advisors for freshmen who can’t attend our advising sessions during Cru Camp. A Student Success Specialist will be happy to sit down with you at any time during your UMHB journey to discuss degree plans, GPA calculations, class scheduling options, help you set academic goals, and help you work out many other advising issues that you may encounter. Once a student declares a major, they will be assigned to a faculty advisor. This faculty advisor will serve as the primary point of contact for students during their time at UMHB; the CAE will only be for supplementary advising services.

Academic Advising at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor provides students a resource to achieve and enhance their educational, personal, and career goals. Academic Advisors will provide students with assistance and guidance throughout their college career.
