BA Honours Fashion

The BA Honours Fashion (Design Technologies) is designed to equip graduates with industry-relevant skills and knowledge, nurturing their ability to operate with integrity and a strong sense of personal identity within the global fashion community. We foster students to think creatively and independently, encouraging innovative approaches to problem-solving and design. Collaboration is a cornerstone of our curriculum, teaching students the importance of working together effectively in diverse teams. Furthermore, we are committed to being responsive to the evolving needs of the fashion industry, aligning our efforts with UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 to reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse. Additionally, we emphasize the significance of both digital and traditional technologies in the fashion context, celebrating their differences and exploring their respective merits and uses. Through these initiatives, we prepare our students to thrive in a dynamic and sustainable fashion landscape, poised to make meaningful contributions to the industry and society at large.

Course Highlights

During the course of this programme students will not only gain the knowledge and practical skills essential for a successful career in fashion design, but also develop self-confidence, a willingness to challenge themselves, teamwork, and the skills to discover and define their design identity. Students will focus on individuality and be encouraged to question everything and learn within a multifaceted environment in which to research, challenge, design and create. Furthermore, the programme seeks to address the evolving needs of the fashion industries, aligning with the aim to contribute to United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically SDG 12 (Target 12.5, which aims to significantly reduce waste generation by 2030 through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse). Our programme allows students to explore the limitless possibilities that arise when creativity intersects with state-of-the-art design technologies in the globally evolving fashion landscape.

In this programme, students will embark on a transformative educational experience that transcends conventional fashion education. Students will be equipped with practical skills and knowledge that are directly applicable to the industry, all while fostering their capacity to operate with integrity and a strong sense of personal identity within the broader global fashion community. The programme provides a holistic forward-thinking approach to fashion education by emphasising hands-on learning, encouraging students to experiment with the latest design software, digital fabrication techniques, and interactive technologies. Graduates will be fully prepared to enter the fashion industry with their own design identity by the end of the programme.
