Short Learning Programme in Introduction to Trauma Counselling
During the course of your studies, you will gain knowledge about the trauma cycle and an understanding of the associated behaviours that victims of trauma experience.

Critical incident stress debriefing
The steps and application in the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing process
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Identify the counselling skills of particular importance in the treatment of PTSD
The trauma of community disaster
The impact of trauma on children and adolescents
The trauma of child abuse
The INTEC Short Learning Programme in Introduction to Trauma Counselling is a short course, which is non- credit bearing and not an accredited NQF qualification. This programme has been approved by the INTEC College Academic Board and is focused on employee development and learning.
You should be able to complete this course within 6 months.
Grade 12 (Std. 10) or equivalent, or 3 years work experience.

Registration/course fees do not include (where applicable) membership costs with professional bodies and/or exam costs (internal and/or external). Registration with the body or application to the exam centre inclusive of payment of any fees incurred therein is your sole responsibility.
You are required to complete and submit two assignments to the College for marking. All assignments must be successfully completed in order to be awarded your certificate of completion. All students are encouraged to work on all the self-evaluation questions that are in the Study Guide. Students are required to submit compulsory assignments that are provided in the study Guide. Only these compulsory assignments will be marked and accounted for to be included in the final mark.
