BSc Honours Business Computing and Data Analytics

The BSc Business Computing and Data Analytics programme is an interdisciplinary programme which integrates Business Computing and Data Analysis to:

• provide students with a solid knowledge base and skills in data analytics and its creative application in business organisations
• provide students with both excellent data-driven problem-solving skills and an analytical mind for data analytics solution design, management and planning in business organisations
• equip students with vast interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration between IT and business units
• equip students with solid knowledge and experience in computing and data analytics projects to support their career developments and further studies in all related fields

Graduates of this programme will be prepared for a range of careers in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Database Technology, Information Management, System Analysis and Design, and IT Project Management, as well as a postgraduate study in Business Information Systems Management, Information Security Management, Data Science.

Programme Content

Core modules such as Information Systems Analysis and Design, Data Analysis for Enterprise Modelling, Database Systems: Design and Implementation and Statistics and Machine Learning for Business Data Analytics are covered in this course extensively. Students will develop analytical and critical thinking skills in approaching and solving a range of practical, technical and research problems. Students will understand the social, professional, and ethical issues related to the design, management and use of information systems in different domains.

The programme will engage students in the process of learning through practice-based individual as well as group activities and projects, enabling them to develop their team-working and communication skills which are required in the industry.
