KAUST aspires to be a destination for scientific and technological education and research. By inspiring discoveries to address global challenges, we strive to serve as a beacon of knowledge that bridges people and cultures for the betterment of humanity.
KAUST advances science and technology through distinctive and collaborative research integrated with graduate education. We are a catalyst for innovation, economic development and social prosperity in Saudi Arabia and the world
We exist for the pursuit and advancement of scientific knowledge and its broad dissemination and benevolent application. We strive to enhance the welfare of society with a special focus on four areas of global significance – food, water, energy and the environment.
At KAUST, we attract people from Saudi Arabia and around the world who want to create impact beyond their own achievements. Irrespective of their national origins, the people of KAUST are “people of the world” who uphold our values of achievement, passion, inspiration, citizenship, diversity, integrity, and openness.
The Academic Divisions invest in people and develop depth and breadth in multiple disciplines. They focus on fundamental knowledge in science and engineering while creating opportunities for ideas and innovation to flourish. Our people, and the ideas they generate, are sustained through a funding model designed for long-term research reflecting our belief in the intellectual potential of curiosity and exploration.
The Academic Divisions develop deep scientific and engineering capabilities through graduate education underpinned by cutting-edge research. Our graduate students contribute to the research environment through their work with our outstanding faculty and access to unrivaled facilities designed to further their educational horizons. Upon graduation, our alumni carry forward their education and training to build upon the knowledge economy and innovation ecosystem within the nation and in over 40 countries around the world.
Our Research Centers invest in major projects and provide thematic focus and critical mass to pursue goal-oriented research that addresses significant challenges for the Kingdom and the world. They invigorate graduate education by fostering creative and problem-solving approaches in an interdisciplinary, team-based environment. They also serve as hubs for engagement of the corporate world.
KAUST was founded with industry collaboration in mind. We work with companies, private sector entities, nonprofits and government organizations to transfer knowledge and technologies created at the University and achieve public benefit and economic development.
Technology transfer is the process of bringing research outputs from the laboratory to the marketplace. We encourage innovators in the KAUST community to protect and commercialize their innovations, and work with them to advance their work into commercial products or services.
KAUST strives to build a strong culture of entrepreneurship and to create new knowledge-based businesses in the Kingdom. We run ongoing startup accelerators and offer various entrepreneurship teaching and learning opportunities to students, faculty, staff, as well as external visitors and industry partners.
The KAUST Innovation Fund aims to grow an innovation and technology investment community and to attract international investors and VCs to the emerging Saudi technology ecosystem.
KAUST makes venture capital investments in high-tech startups from seed (less than $200,000) to early-stage (up to $2 million) and becomes a long-term strategic partner of these ventures.
KAUST Research and Technology Park provides an environment for technology based businesses to access KAUST laboratories, faculty and student talent, as well as a network of public spaces and facilities designed for creative collision and knowledge sharing.
KAUST requires a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on the IBT (Internet Based Test) or 6.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). The KAUST admissions code is 4107. Only official TOEFL or IELTS scores will be accepted. TOEFL or IELTS scores for tests administered by an educational institution for admission to that particular institution are not acceptable.
A TOEFL or IELTS score is not required if the applicant received a degree from an accredited institution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
KAUST does not require the GRE exam for admission. However, we strongly encourage students to take the GRE general test. A high quantitative score on the GRE will enhance a student's application. Official test results should be sent directly from ETS. The KAUST admissions code is 4139.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Great campus and well organized infrastructure. Academically, their main focus is research in the oil/minerals and ocean sciences. Well equipped with many state of the art facilities.

KAUST is an example of what can be done when you have a load of money and a solid vision of what you want to do with it. It's an amazing project, executed to perfection by the Saudi government. Situated at about an hour's drive from Jeddah, the university is like a small private town, offering all necessary amenities for people living within its walls. Restaurants, schools, a supermarket and recreation facilities, including a private beach, complement the freely provided housing and paid scholarships the university has on offer to create a great experience of studying or working here. Regular social events throughout the academic year mean that there is a thriving KAUST community and a lively social aspect. The university also has its own desalination plant, ensuring high quality water is always available for its residents and staff without relying on external companies.

Possibly one of the best university campuses I have ever had the pleasure to visit, work and live in. The perks of working at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is reason alone to choose to work or study here. However, the science and research is also renown and of world class standard. This is a post-graduate University so classes are catered to a slightly matured audience. This university has a multi cultural crowd and almost every nationality can be found here.

KAUST is a nice University, with great Research Facilities and money. Slowly becoming a good institution in the Middle-east. Still lacking good mind and liberty to absorb other and to tolerate other. I had a good time as researcher at KAUST and freedom as well, until I became competitor for someone......
