Job Description
The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating new content that positions the organisation as a global thought-leader in the alternative energy, environmental technologies and sustainability. This content will be collated working alongside the organisations faculty, and researchers and will be disseminated via website, e-newsletter, op-eds and through placement in journals, newspaper and magazines.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate Science and Technology projects and information from the laboratory to a wider audience
- Develop and write newspaper articles, features and press releases, media advisories, magazine articles, newsletter articles and op-eds, and other appropriate communication pieces for distribution to the professional media and other targeted audiences regarding research and other activities that are taking place in the organisation
- Develop and maintain professional contacts and affiliations with news media editors, reporters, particularly at the national level, to facilitate and promote the dissemination of news in areas relevant to science, technology and research at the organisation
- Develop and maintain working relationships with faculty, students, the dean and administrators
- Consult with faculty, the dean and administrators on publicizing and promoting their activities and research to the news media
- Develop news and feature articles for campus publications
