The College of Agricultural and Food Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry at the main campus in Al-Hasa; and the College of Architecture and Planning and the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Dammam. In later years, with the intent to meet the future needs of the Kingdom, with the issuance of Royal decree No. 7 / b / 11155, and with the consent of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Chairman of the Board of Higher Education, the College of Education was founded in 1981, and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Planning in 1984.

E-learning is a way of teaching using modern communication mechanisms computers , networks , multimedia , Internet portals to deliver information to learners as faster and cheaper making the educational process management and control, measure and evaluate the performance of learners. numerous of this kind of communication and interaction are by the mean of e-mail and online forums and chat rooms, and a lot of communication media, to enable the learner to receive a scientific article manner commensurate with his abilities through Audio, visual and printed media and the like. Avoiding the limitation of space and time for implementing the education process which helps in finding a wide opportunities to study in distance education universities to disseminate science and knowledge in the community to achieve prosperity and civilization .

E-learning currently occupies a high position in the universities and academic institutes and given priority by the departments in these educational institutions. Universities have spread distance education. open education and visual education in most countries in the world.

Many universities began to support mandatory expansion in the use of traditional education to improve learning techniques (face to face) this has led to increase competition among institutions of higher education making the traditional universities compete with each other on the one hand and with the universities working in the private sector on the other hand., As well as provide a complete online classes, in addition to the substantial growth in the number of students wishing to study remotely as a result of the impact of multi-dimensional communication and information technology and the use of the Internet in university education.
