The objectives of Taibah University are good education, scientific research, and community service. It is noted that the role of scientific research, in our society, is limited compared to the role of education in our universities, despite the strong interrelationships between scientific research and education which makes the distinction between them out of the question. It is a fact that the developed countries achieved economic and technological development and prosperity as a result of great interest in scientific research and of making it a priority to spend generously on its activities. Thus, the fact that we are all aware of is that scientific research is the basic tool to address the problems of community, and to serve national development plans. Furthermore, it has the credit of all the changes that have occurred throughout history, which resulted in the well-being of human life, the availability of modern technology, and the diversity of available products and services. To this end, the Deanship of Scientific Research, Taibah University, spares no effort in seeking to develop and revitalize the university's scientific research in various scientific fields through the development of infrastructure, the provision of required finance, and create the appropriate climate for research.

The membership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the WTO adds a significant burden and responsibility on scientific research activities in all of the Kingdom’s universities, being the only way for developing quality products and services with capabilities to compete and stand against other foreign products, thus ensuring continuity in markets, increasing, and attracting capitals. The global transformation to knowledge-based economies stresses the importance of revitalizing and sustaining scientific research in the Kingdom for the production of information necessary for the development of our era.

Therefore, Taibah University’s senior management, under guidance of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mansour bin Mohammed Al Nazhah, University Rector, aims primarily to quality and excellence of scientific research at the university at local, regional and global levels, and in line with aspirations of the Kingdom and its human and material potentials, in order to contribute with the rest of universities in addressing the problems of the Saudi society, and to serve national development plans.

Our aspirations in Taibah University are not only to support research projects and to follow up with implementation, but it also transcends that to benefiting from the results of research by promoting them to private and public sector entities, for applying and taking advantage of them.

Launching of scientific research activities at Taibah will be a large scale start, through concerted and sincere efforts and proper strategic planning to reach out to the main objective sought by all of the university’s staff, inshaa Allah.

Deanship of Scientific Research, at Taibah University, was founded in 1425 H, and the board of this Deanship was formed since inception in accordance with Universities Scientific Research regulations. The board takes and adopts decisions as provided for in Article 35 of the Higher Education Council and Universities regulations. Since development of nations depends on the extent of their interest in scientific research, and since scientific research is the second pillar after teaching (education) at universities, Taibah University has given, since inception, all the good care to the development and pushing ahead with scientific research in various scientific fields, in order for Taibah to reach excellence in scientific research at the local, regional and global levels.

The university's senior management aims to support Deanship of Scientific Research with human and material resources so that it can efficiently carry out its responsibilities.

Deanship of Scientific Research is focused to achieve the maximum benefit from the results of the research supported by the budget of the University and to deliver them to researchers, and has issued the directory of supported research projects’ summary (Vol. I), which was implemented by the faculty members and researchers, in order to allow for the provision and delivery of the results of these scientific research to various sectors of Saudi society (private sector and government), researchers and interested parties to make use of it and to apply them as a step to support and partnership to build bridges of cooperation and good communication between the University on the one hand and the Kingdom’s various sectors of society on the other hand. In other words, this directory will contribute to the provision of information and data that serve the interests of scientific researchers, the arbitrators and other interested parties, and it is to strengthen bonds between the university and community sectors, and to reduce the gap that separates between researchers and producers of scientific research in universities and research centers and the beneficiaries of this research. The Deanship of Scientific Research calls for all of the civil and governmental sectors to review this directory and to determine how to make use of it, as the university is fully prepared to discuss the possibility of research collaboration in various fields of science that address issues related to community service and national development.
