Ibn Sina National College for Medical Studies is the first private medical college of higher education to be opened under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Promoted by and affiliated with the Al-Jedaani Group of Hospitals, KSA, it is located in the southern part of the historic city of Jeddah, near the picturesque Red Sea coast. With a diverse range of very experienced national and international faculty members, Ibn Sina successfully provides an appropriate scientific atmosphere for teaching and learning Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing courses. In order to keep up with international standards of education, all programs utilize the most up-to-date curricula available, enabling Ibn Sina to play a major role in providing society with competent, highly qualified physicians and pharmacists. Meeting local demands, Ibn Sina was the first college to successfully create an avenue for both Saudi and foreign students, who are unwilling to study abroad, to have an opportunity to gain excellent private medical education within their home or resident country.
Supporting the students in their efforts to get the best of opportunities at the college to pursue excellence in their chosen programs is the top most priority for us at the Academic Affairs. In close coordination with the administrative and academic departments in the college we strive to provide all possible guidance to the students and extend timely help to create and sustain a stimulating learning environment on the campus.
With sections in both male and female sides of the campus this department ensures orderly functioning of academic activities in the college and enforces a disciplined behavior on the campus. Academic schedules, maintenance of attendance records, management of academic performance data etc., are some important functions of this department. Channelizing creative energy of the young minds on the campus into productive and innovative learning outcomes and extending appropriate counseling support to help the distressed students and those with learning difficulties are equally important to us.
Aligned with the institution’s mission we work single mindedly to make the students as stress free as possible, thus help them realize their academic aspirations.
The Student Support Unit aims at supporting students in special and urgent cases, such as those with special needs, those facing learning difficulties as well as distinguished students facing challenges in their learning environment. The unit will work closely with students to enable them to better understand the circumstances that they are faced with whilst also helping to solve their surrounding problems.
The ISNC-RC serves and is currently represented by four programs at the institution namely, Medicine, Clinical Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing Program.
Investigations by the researchers of these programs include, but are not limited to biomedical, clinical, educational and public health. These areas give ample opportunities to ISNC‐RC, to pursue research, education and community service to serve the mission of the Institution.
The ISNC-RC collaborates between four different programs across the college campus, with the aim of advancing research and outcomes in the field of health sciences
The mission of ISNC-RC is “To facilitate the institutional research process and encourage the staff and students to participate in original research activities”
The Medical Education Unit (MEU) is a newly established academic unit that serves all the four programs of the College. It is involved in all aspects of the education process and assessment at Ibn Sina College. This includes curriculum development and reform, preparing syllabi and student guides, and proposing and tailoring innovative educational methods to advance the educational process to keep pace with the continuous progress in medical sciences.
The MEU also takes care of upgrading and systematizing the process of student assessment in knowledge, skills and attitudinal aspects. The MEU is also involved in evaluation of education programs and proposing solutions for development and continuous quality improvement.
A major job of the MEU is upgrading the capabilities of the academic staff members to suit their educational, research, and service responsibilities, and to make them qualified enough to help the College achieve its mission.
The MEU pays special interest in research in different sciences of medical education sciences, where its members share in featured research plans and projects with enthusiasm for sharing research findings in specialized international conferences.
The Quality Assurance Centre (QACr) acts as the executive arm of the Quality Assurance Committee and its sub-committees. QACr is responsible for the policies and procedures for the implementation of quality processes and improvement activities across the academic and administrative areas of the Ibn Sina National College.
