Darüşşafaka Eğitim Kurumları

Operating since 1873, Darüşşafaka Schools, the first private school to have been established by a non-governmental organization, have been providing an 8-year education from the 5th grade to high school graduation with a full scholarship and boarding opportunity to talented but financially disadvantaged kids with deceased fathers and/or mothers. Students receive a high-quality education along with an intensive foreign language curriculum. Students grow up as socially and culturally knowledgeable individuals.

Today, Darüşşafaka Schools in Maslak, Istanbul educates and trains almost 1000 students who are selected through an exam from all corners of Turkey. They are raised as modern, self-confident, curious, and socially responsible individuals that are life-long learners and researchers and are committed to Ataturk’s principles. At Darüşşafaka Schools pupils come from 72 different cities across Turkey. 60% of the students are from outside of Istanbul while 40% are from Istanbul. Our students from outside of İstanbul spend their weekends also at Darüşşafaka.

All opportunities made available for our kids at Darüşşafaka Schools are funded by donations from individuals, institutions, and organizations to the Society. With the support of numerous persons and entities passionate about the enlightened future of Turkey, such as Atatürk’s mother Zübeyde Hanım, sister Makbule Atadan, and adopted daughter Nebile İrdelp, Sait Faik Abasıyanık, and Türkiye İş Bankası (İşbank), the Society is providing our children with the right to “equality of opportunity in education”.

Aiming to raise students with 21st-century skills, Darüşşafaka provides education employing the use of tablet computers. Today, around 1,000 students selected through an exam from all corners of Turkey are offered college education with full scholarship and boarding for a period of eight years from the 5th grade till high school graduation at Darüşşafaka Schools in Maslak, Istanbul. The Society also gives scholarships to its graduates who pass the university exam.

Our teachers are our greatest resource in carrying out this work. We work with teachers who are the best in their respective fields, and while our teachers enhance our school, we attach just as much importance to their development. Our teachers are provided with training in areas such as personal development, new trends and innovations in their fields, and technology. They, in turn, reflect on this training and what they have learned in school.

We professionally prepare our children for national and international exams. Preparation for universities is of particular importance in our school. Our students know that preparing for an exam is a process, and they prepare for these exams with a complete and wholesome learning approach by keeping a level of discipline. In this regard, the process of preparing for universities is managed by professional staff, and we prepare our students for the fields they aim to study via university coaching.
