İzmir Ozel Turk College was established on November 15th, 1950 with the hard work and dedication of Bahattin TATIŞ, ambassador of Turkish National Education. With Bahattin Tatış, the founder, serving as the school manager, the school had humble beginnings as a small building on Talatpaşa Boulevard of İzmir with 29 students and 14 distinguished teachers. With the foresight that this building would not be of sufficient capacity in the future, two years later the school moved to Uşakizade Mansion in Göztepe, İzmir.

Izmir Ozel Turk College was founded by a young mathematics teacher, Bahattin Tatış, my father, who devoted himself to education and the lessons started in November 15th, 1950.The young teacher went to Ankara with the dream of founding a private school carrying the torch of education in the front rank. Then head of the Board of Education and Discipline shared the dream of the teacher and told him the following word:

“Let Izmir Ozel Turk College be the most beautiful and disciplined school in Turkey, or better, in the world. Let our graduate scientists be milestones in science and reach a point where our countrymen and even the whole world will respect them. Let our graduates take Turkish economy forward or be unforgettable names in Turkish literature or Turkish history. Let them be the leaders and symbols of succes in industry, economy and in the development of our country. Let them be doctors and make our country healthier. Let them be monuments of science and good morals as teachers. Let us build a team of personnel in education that are idealist, devoted, talented and has understood the importance of the virtues of being a teacher.”

To raise individuals who have the self-confidence and tools to be ready for both the positive and negative developments throughout their lives, and to take solid life steps using their time, skills and knowledge efficiently;To raise individuals who are able to create their own happiness through pursuing what they enjoy, and further develop his or her competence on this path.
