Since the school first opened in 2011, QAW continues to further develop its programs, curriculum and facilities. We continue to add one grade level every year, and hire highly specialized staff to meet the demands of our expansion. We have ambitious plans for the future, yet we never lose sight of what is most important, our students. At the heart of all our planning is student learning. As the QAW community continues to focus on always putting students first, we will be able to fulfill the QAW vision and mission, and our promise to students and their families.

Qatar Academy Al Wakra (QAW) is a bilingual, international school serving the community of Al Wakra and surrounding areas. The mission of QAW is to provide the highest possible standards of education, which enables every student to achieve excellence and develop as an independent critical thinker, a lifelong learner, and a responsible citizen. The school will expand one grade level annually to reach Grade 12. The campus is located about 20 miles south of Doha in the seaside city of Al Wakra. The facility sits on a state of the art, purpose built campus with beautiful outdoor sports facilities, indoor recreation and gym facilities, indoor junior and senior swimming pools, 450 seat theater, music and art studios, fully equipped science, technology, engineering, art, mechanics and food technology labs with Promethean interactive Boards, iPads and Chromebooks are available for checkout. The school is fully accredited with the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). QAW is a continuum IB world school implementing all three IB programmes; Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The administrators and development of the school is overseen by a board of governors and the office of Pre-University Education (PUE) in Qatar Foundation (QF).

QAW is part of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF). QF is a private, non-profit organization that is supporting Qatar on its journey from a carbon economy to a knowledge based economy by unlocking human potential, providing home-grown solutions for the benefit of not only Qatar, but the world.
