The school that has never become, but is always becoming.”The Abdul Hamid Sharaf School is a private, coeducational, K-12 day school serving the needs of a diverse group of students, international and local. Languages of instruction for the basic subjects are Arabic and English. The school is licensed to teach the British General Certificate of Education (GCE) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and the American SAT II curriculum. Successful completion of the programs of study in English allows the student’s degree to be equated with the Jordanian Tawjihi high school diploma that is necessary for continuing education in Jordanian colleges and universities. Pre-School ( Kindergarten ), Elementary School, Secondary School ( SAT, SAT II, GCE, IGCSE ).

We are the school that has never become, but is always becoming. We embrace diversity and believe education is for everyone of all abilities. Student learning is our main purpose. Students must be actively involved in the learning process and need to learn independence, responsibility and respect.

1. Education is for everyone – not just for the intelligent or the elite. All students can learn. Ways must be found to teach even the most difficult student.
2. Students are individuals and should be treated according to their individual needs. Special services must be provided for students with special needs.
3. Students need to be actively involved in the learning process and experience success.
4. Student’s self-esteem depends on positive relationships with staff and other students.
5. Students need to learn independence and responsibility.
6. All people involved in the education process – home, school, and society – must work together for the benefit of the child.
7. Students of all cultural backgrounds and nationalities must be respected and accepted.
8. The school must prepare students for life in a world of rapid change.

In the Abdul Hamid Sharaf School, the needs, feelings, and characteristics of children shall be considered in the planning of learning experiences. Discipline will be an important part of the school and will be developed, but regimentation will not be allowed because it is incompatible with developing children’s independence. Children must be helped to develop self-discipline and to accept responsibility for their own actions. Children will be encouraged to clarify and develop their own sets of values: honesty, respect for other people and their property, and good citizenship will be stressed. Each child will be treated as an individual and will be helped to develop his or her own style of learning because learning is a lifetime activity. Education must help children to be flexible and adapt to a changing world. Education in the Abdul Hamid Sharaf School will be child-centered and related to the surroundings and interests of children. Real learning can take place only if it is relevant to the child’s world. The school is an extension of the home. Children should feel proud of their school as they do of their homes. The school must be a warm, friendly, accepting the place where nobody is afraid or threatened, where everybody feels welcome and wanted and is allowed to reach his or her fullest potential both in personality and intellectual development. There must be an atmosphere of mutual respect among all members of the educational community. Interest and motivation and trust are the keys to learning. Without these elements, no real or lasting learning can occur. The teachers of the Abdul Hamid Sharaf School will try to guide each child and help him or her to realize how exciting learning can be, and to feel secure in the knowledge of self-respect and self-worth.
