What are Public Holidays in Bahrain?

Eid Al Fitr
Eid Al Fitr is an Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramadan (Fasting). It is celebrated in Bahrain and across the GCC region and other Muslim countries. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast during the day and feast at night. Most restaurants are closed and businesses operate in shorter hours. Smoking and drinking in public are not permitted.

Eid Al Adha
Eid Al Adha, also known as the Greater Eid, is the Feast of the Sacrifice. The holiday honors (Abraham) who wanted to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

Arafat Day
Arafat Day is the Commemoration of Muhammad’s final sermon and completion of the message of Islam.

National Day
National Day in Bahrain is celebrated every December 16. This day marks the anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to power.

Ashoora
Ashoora is a two-day public holiday in Bahrain, occurring on the ninth and tenth days of Muharram.

Prophet’s Birthday
The birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad is commemorated on the third month in the Islamic calendar.
