DAMMAM/ JEDDAH: The Ministry of Education has formed a committee to supervise the separation of boys from girls at private and foreign schools and said any mixing of the sexes is forbidden.
The ministry stressed that any foreign school that violates these instructions would be removed from the list of schools allowed to admit Saudi students. Also, no student will be given a transfer from a general education to a foreign school unless the student gets an approval letter from the education authority.
Furthermore, the school should have been granted an accreditation certificate from a recognized international authority.
The ministry warned schools against any ideological or Shariah violations or contravention of the regulations. In addition, the schools should have scored 800 marks in the foreign schools’ evaluation register.
International schools in the Kingdom must comply with the Ministry of Education’s regulations on curricula, the selection of teachers and uphold Islamic principles and traditions, according to Khaled Bin Thabet Al-Orabi Al-Harithi, the Director of Foreign Education at Jeddah Education Administration.
He said this was especially the case now that Saudi students are increasingly being enrolled at these schools. He said many Saudi parents wanted to have their children at international schools.
