Mastering Supervisory Skills
Becoming a manager is hard enough, but making the transition from colleague to boss is even tougher and comes with its own set of unique challenges. It is not enough that supervisors run the business and oversee their staff, but they must contribute to the bottom line. In business today, the bottom line is the bottom line. Everyone plays an important role in making the business profitable.
The supervisor is in an ideal position to contribute to company profitability in two vital ways; cost control and methods improvement. They have direct influence and control over the use of equipment and tools, the work methods employed and the attitudes and performance of the staff members. These objectives and goals require that supervisors and first line managers are competent in problem solving, decision making, and target setting, coaching, leading their team with emotional intelligence and dealing with difficult people through difficult situations.
